The actual dimensions are 20 5/8” x 12” which includes the pen/pencil holders. Keyboard area is 20 5/8” x 10” not 15”. The rails are 15” long but extend only 10”. I knew there was no room for a mouse as LC mentioned before but I just wanted to add a...

They really could have included a slide-out piece of wood / plastic for a mouse, in which case there is enough room to store the mouse while not being used in the tray as is. Alternative may be offering a larger tray option.
