Cougar 550M Gaming Mouse

The Cougar 550M Gaming Mouse has a comfortable design, and plenty of buttons to customize, but the awkward placement of one of its key buttons holds it back.

Inexpensive. Lightweight. Comfortable with solid thumb rest. Plenty of customization options. Designed for ambidextrous use.

Using dpi-switching button jerks the cursor. Included software could be more straightforward.

Performance and Conclusions In my tests, the mouse exhibited no lag. Playing Witcher 3 with the 550M set to about 1,000dpi was a mostly good experience for me—the only snag came when I needed to switch dpi modes. Having to push the dpi-switching button...

Cougar 550M Review – A capable, everyday mouse

I use a lot of input devices on a daily basis. I work on the same computer I use for gaming, and that means I spend more than 12 hours a day using the same mouse and keyboard.

If you’re looking for a mouse that’s solid, capable, easy to tweak and comfortable enough to forget, this is it. The 550M is a good choice at $39.99. If you can find it for less, it’s even better.
