NEC MultiSync EA294WMi review

Can this 29-inch display do enough to justify its hefty price tag?

Nice wide display ; Good connectivity

Iffy sensor technology ; Really rather expensive

NEC MultiSync EA294WMi review - 29in wide-aspect IPS LCD panel with LED backlight

Very wide display allows for multiple apps to run at once with ease

Colour uniformity was very good, the biggest discrepency coming at 83% Brightness, along the top third with the middle showing a Delta-E of 4.9. Everything else was much lower.Colour accuracy overall gave an average Delta-E of 1.84 with the problem...

NEC MultiSync EA294WMi review - 29in wide-aspect IPS LCD panel with LED backlight

Very wide display allows for multiple apps to run at once with ease

Very wide display gives lots of desktop space, lots of brightness power, eco saving modes, no real light leak, sturdy construction, high resolution, lots of interfaces, stand rotates

Some colour variation along the top third of the display, not quite 100% sRGB, incredibly heavy and bulky, not very stylish, lacks vertical resolution

Colour uniformity was very good, the biggest discrepency coming at 83% Brightness, along the top third with the middle showing a Delta-E of 4.9. Everything else was much lower.Colour accuracy overall gave an average Delta-E of 1.84 with the problem...

NEC MultiSync EA294WMi

The NEC MultiSync EA294WMi is a pricey 29-inch ultra-wide monitor offering good grayscale performance, wide viewing angles, and a wealth of features.

Good grayscale performance. Wide viewing angles. Robust feature set.

Greens are slightly skewed. Expensive. USB is 2.0.

There's a lot to like about the NEC EA294WMi. It is equipped with six video ports and a USB hub and its ultra-wide IPS panel provides strong grayscale reproduction and robust colors that look sharp from any angle. Green color intensity is a bit heavy,...

NEC EA294WMi Review

While 21:9 displays have never caught on for TVs, they seem to have found a niche with computers. Now most vendors have at least one 21:9 display, and at CES this year we saw larger, higher resolution 21:9 panels introduced. All of these panels are...

NEC EA294WMi 29" Monitor Review: 21:9 At Twice The Price

Last month, we reviewed AOC's Q2963PM ultra-wide monitor at 2560x1080. Based on the same LG panel, NEC brings us its EA294WMi. Selling for almost twice as much, does this screen offer two times the performance and features? Our tests give you the answer.

Review Roundup: Get a bigger picture with an ultrawide 29-inch display

This is one of the best ultrawide displays we've tested, but it's also one of the most expensive.

IPS panel delivers great off-axis viewing ; Very good height-adjustable, pivoting stand ; Pivots ; Very good overall image quality

Mediocre integrated speakers

All four of these displays performed well overall. For folks who want to use an extrawide screen to handle multimedia, the LG 29EA93P, with its decent built-in speakers, would be the best choice. The NEC EA294WMi delivers the most accurate colors and...

Nice Monitor

Troubles with shipping aside (probably due to the size and weight), it is a really nice monitor. Be sure to check it out upon receipt, as it appears to be susceptible to damage.

Super wide, very clear, the 1st one I received included a display port cable

Heavy shipping weight (around 27lbs), 1st one had a dead vertical row of pixels, returned for another which took about 2 weeks. 2nd one worked, even though the Styrofoam packaging was destroyed (1st has some damage on the box), had to dig around in the...

Awesome!

Great monitor even though it was used seemed new. Was missing a few things like the remote to the monitor and I'm guessing some other stuff but wasn't a big deal. Took me a bit to figure out that I needed a custom resolution (depending on your graphics...
