BenQ EW2740L display review

It's not usually easy to get excited about a monitor's styling. The BenQ EW2740L isn't an exception so suffice to say that the slim surround and semi-matt finish to the screen give it a perfectly acceptable appearance.

While the BenQ EW2740L isn't priced or pitched as a top-end monitor, for the budget price its performance is remarkably good. If your requirements are more stringent the figures represent something of a mixed bag. Photographers will be drawn by the...

BenQ EW2740L

The BenQ EW2740L is a moderately priced, 27-inch, Vertical Alignment (VA) monitor that displays deep blacks, solid gray-scale reproduction, and wide viewing angles. Though it doesn't come with a lot of features, its high contrast ratio brings good...

High contrast ratio. Good gray-scale performance. Wide viewing angles.

Slightly skewed color accuracy. Tilt-only stand. Tinny speakers.

Conclusion Whether you're watching movies, viewing documents, or surfing the Web, the BenQ EW2740L delivers vibrant colors, dark blacks, and a high contrast ratio that provides sharp image detail. Its 27-inch VA panel has a bit of trouble displaying...

BenQ EW2740L

Early days but image quality seems good, contrast is excellent, viewing angles very good and it's not bad looking to boot. Not fiddled with the settings yet to finesse things, but impressed with the out-of-the-box performance.

None so far.

BenQ EW2740L

Stunning contrast and vibrancy. Nice slim design, doesn't look too big on the desk. Good amount of options. Colour range is impressive (especially if you make sure to use full 0-255 RGB in your GPU driver settings). Overall though, this is a stunning...

1080p makes certain fonts look a little fuzzy or jagged close up despite Windows ClearType enable. Slight sheen and reflectiveness means you want a dark wall behind you. Touch controls are a nice idea but actually a bit fiddly to use.
