Asus PW201 review

Glossy but ghastly

Great styling ; Good build quality ; Loads of features

Shocking LCD panel

While it's packed full of juicy features, the colour and picture quality is appalling

Snazzy styling, great build quality and more features than you can shake a DVI cable at. It's all academic, frankly, if a monitor sports a poor LCD panel. So it goes, sadly, for this striking Asus 20-inch widescreen display

Light and compact, Best integrated graphics we've seen, Great value for money, Great styling, Good build quality, Loads of features

Screen reflection in bright light, Shocking LCD panel

While it's packed full of juicy features, the colour and picture quality is appalling

Asus PW-201 20-inch LCD

We'll admit that it's hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with this swish-looking ingénue couched supine on his/her desktop. It's a pretty thing, cast in glossy black with a heavy, solid base and an entirely adjustable tilt-and-rise stand...

Good overall image, All-round appeal

Very poor speakers, Strange tinge to the image, Rather expensive

A good panel, but it's pricy, and the speakers are vile

Asus PW201

Asus was very excited about showing us its brand new 20.1in flat-panel. Happily, we were almost as excited about powering it up, enthused as we were by its startlingly polished exterior and crisp styling.

We like the Asus's futuristic looks, and image quality is good for PC use. The lack of HDMI is odd but, while average users may baulk at the PW201's price – almost £100 more than the decent Philips Brilliance 200W6CS/00 – the style-conscious will...

Asus PW201

Once, big 20-inch screens were the sole reserve of the graphics designer and those with more than a little loose change in their pockets. the super rich. Not any more

Features, Value for moeny, Looks great

Lack of HD imputs

A stunning display that's only let down by a lack of HD inputs

If you're after a stylish monitor for your home, the LS201 is ideal. Its glass screen makes it an ideal product if you have kids around, as it means the screen won't be damaged by inadvertent pokes. Our tests indicate that it's a good monitor for...

Glass screen; Good photo reproduction; No noticeable blurring

ASUS' PW201 is a great looking widescreen monitor. Its image quality is excellent, with only minor noise aberrations detracting from the otherwise cri...

Great image quality, Portrait view, Stylish design

Some minor noise problems, Webcam buggy, Speakers make it a little large

The ASUS PW201 is a great entertainment display for both video games and movies, although the webcam is buggy.

Asus PW201 review

There's a reason I never bought a combo cell phone/MP3 player. It's the same reason I never bought a TV with a built-in VCR: I didn't want to own a TV in five years that also included a broken or outdated VCR. I don't need my cell phone to play music,...

Excellent overall image quality, from text to photos to video; wide array of video connections, including component; fast 8-millisecond pixel-response rate; stable base.

Webcam comes with bad driver and buggy software; priced higher than competing 20-inch wide-screen LCDs.

The entertainment-oriented Asus PW201 offers superior image quality and an impressive collection of video connections, but it costs more than competing 20-inch wide-screen LCDs and includes a Webcam that suffers from buggy software.

Asus's PW201 is well suited for use at work and play. It provides the usual business amenities and adds several entertainment features--even a built-in Webcam. Moreover, it excels at both text and graphics, showing no real weakness on any of PC World's...

Good performance, smooth adjustments Low price

Limited support hours

All in all, the Asus PW201 is a fine choice for work, play, or both
