Vivo's X21 has a cool underscreen fingerprint sensor

The X21's most novel feature is a little disappointing.

The Vivo X21's slim, thin design stands out, while its long battery life will easily last you a whole day. The camera is capable of taking pretty good pictures, too.

The iOS-like copycat design is horrible to use, and the phone's underscreen fingerprint sensor takes longer to unlock your phone than a physical sensor.

The Vivo X21's cool underscreen fingerprint reader offers a glimpse into what a future phone can be, but it's not compelling enough to buy for the tech alone.

vivo X21 smartphone review: Stumbling out of the gate

The in-display fingerprint sensor scores vivo a world-first, and the tech is decent, but once again, this Chinese brand trips up on price point. Find out just how well the vivo x21 fares and can its unique selling point make a case for itself.

Good build quality and great in-hand feel;Smooth performance;Bright AMOLED display

micro-USB port on a 2018 phone; No NFC;In-display fingerprint sensor unreliable;Funtouch OS looks dated; doesn’t make the most of Android Oreo’s features;Poor speaker quality;Camera is disappointing in poor light;Battery life could be improved

Vivo X21 review: An innovative smartphone that loses out to the OnePlus 6

The Vivo X21 solely loses out to the mighty OnePlus 6 because of bad pricing.

Gets you a cool new in-display fingerprint reader, great battery life, audio quality packaged in a gorgeous body.

That in-display fingerprint reader needs some work and so does the pricing.

The Vivo X21 is a great-looking smartphone and it offers something new with an in-display fingerprint reader. And while the notch-friendly design does give you more phone and less bezel, bad software optimisation does not make for the best user...

Vivo X21 Review

Androids have started moving to bezel-less design and notch displays, we are already seeing the fullscreen bezel-less design and the emerging notch, Vivo V9

Bezel-less Design, Glass Body, Solid Build ; Huge 6.28-inch Screen, Bright Display ; In-Display Fingerprint Scanner is fairly good ; Fast Face Unlock ; Remarkable Selfies ; Takes Great Portraits With Dual Cameras ; Android Oreo out-of-the-box ; Fast...

Price ; No Water-Resistant Design ; No Wireless Charging

Vivo X21 offers a great notch display, an innovative fingerprint sensor under the display, latest Android and a beautiful glass design. The cameras are worthy in my opinion, they take one of the best selfies as well as portraits with bokeh effects....

Vivo X21 review

Is this real or science fiction?

First smartphone ever with in-display fingerprint sensor ; Bright and vibrant display ; Best of Android and iOS ; Quick and smooth processing

USB 2.0 ; Heavily skinned with tons of bloatware ; Not consistent with face unlock features ; Price ; Snapdragon 660 processor at that price

Polished software and bragging rights make this Vivo a worthy buy
