Sony Xperia M2 Aqua review

Waterproofing without the premium price tag

Top level water resistance ; Good battery life ; Attractive design

Screen isn't competitive ; Clumsy waterproofing flaps ; Camera struggles with lighting conditions

Like the Sony Xperia M2, the M2 Aqua is a sold mid-range Android phone. But its added water resistance is a bit awkward and it doesn't solve any of its sibling's issues. The screen and camera also disappoint.

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua : Sony Vodafone Xperia M2 Aqua

Continuing my look at mobile devices available from Vodafone, it is the turn of the Sony Xperia M2 Aqua offering.

The Xperia M2 Aqua is a member of the Sony family of smartphones. This handset is available in a choice of purple, white or black with the latter being the colour of my review sample kindly provided by Vodafone. The Xperia M2 Aqua has dimensions of...

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua review

Sony continues to update its Xperia series and this time it's the turn of the midrange with the M2 Aqua, now with added waterproofing and a few other improvements.

Solid build quality, decent processor, improved camera, waterproof and dust resistant

Blocky styling won't be for everyone, screen not the best

Sony Xperia M2 review

Sony's attempt at making its premium technologies available to the masses.

Nice software ; Strong connectivity

Camera ; Pricey

The Xperia M2 delivers an enjoyable experience. The software is versatile and the hardware, although modest, is powerful enough to keep the M2 competitive. Unfortunately it can't compete against its rivals at this price point. We’re afraid Sony has...

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua review: Cliff diver

The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua will give you all the water resistance you need. That's more than enough for marketing to work with, but they'll need to work hard nonetheless. You see, it's otherwise a well familiar package. So, Sony will take you to the water...

4.8" IPS LCD, 540 x 960px, 229ppi, Gorilla Glass 3, ambient light sensor ; LTE connectivity ; Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Xperia UI on top ; IP68 certified - dust and water proof up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes ; Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with...

Low screen resolution for the size ; Non user-replaceable battery ; 3.5mm headphone jack has a flap (unlike most other waterproof phones)

A waterproofed version of one of their mass-market models is hardly the biggest thing to come out of Sony's labs this season. There's a new super-mini to look forward to and the next flagship generation, plus a couple of wearables just broke cover...

Sony Xperia M2 Aqua Smartphone Review

Sealed. Sony expands its M product line by another model. The M2 Aqua is technically on par with its sister model but is additionally dust and waterproof. The Android version has also been updated and is thus compatible with all Sony wearables.

Dust and waterproof, Expandable storage, Fairly up-to-date Android, App2SD support, Great Wi-Fi range, Decent GPS, Good voice quality, LTE Cat. 4, Very good battery life

Casing stiffness, No longer glass back, Bloatware

Owners of an Xperia M2 certainly do not have to buy an Aqua because the technical specs of both devices are virtually identical. The screen size, resolution, and performance hardly differ, and the battery life of both devices is also very good.
