Sony's flagship smartphone cuts back on some AV features without sacrificing picture and sound performance
Crisp picture with impressive contrast ; Detailed sound through headphones ; New aspect ratio is better for daily use
Loudspeakers lack weight and punch ; More expensive than most rivals
The Xperia 1 VI drops some AV features and feels a bit more generic than its predecessor, but we still find it to be thoroughly impressive as a portable movie and music player

Sony's pricey new Xperia 1 VI mainstreams in a bid to widen the line's appeal and upgrades the zoom camera
Front-firing speakers sound great ; Very impressive macro camera ; Great gaming performance ; Excellent battery life
Pricey ; Slow charging ; No pro-grade video on launch ; Mediocre point-and-shoot camera
The Sony Xperia 1 VI is a great phone in a bubble, combining excellent battery life with a quality display, booming front-firing speakers, ample power and impressive camera hardware. Its macro photo and video capabilities shine, and with no major...

By ditching the 4K display, Sony's 2024 flagship is a more well-rounded phone than the Xperia 1 V. However, a couple of big things still count against it
Very good performance ; Superb battery life ; Excellent zoom and macro photos ; Clean software
Expensive ; Prone to overheating ; Slow charging
The Xperia 1 VI is an impressive phone in many ways, and much easier to recommend than the 1 V. But the tall 4K screen was its unique selling point, and without it, there’s no clear reason to buy this phone over cheaper rivals.

A big display change, but familiar features everywhere else - the Sony Xperia 1 VI is a closer flagship competitor than ever
New screen better competes with rivals ; Strong performance and epic battery life
No pro video mode at launch ; Rivals still better for point-and-shoot photography – but only just ; Longer software support would be nice at this price
Another ‘best of Sony’ phone that benefits from going slightly more mainstream in a few key areas. A fantastic flagship that majors on battery life and entertainment.

If you fancy having a 3.5mm headphone jack, a capable audio DAC that can replace some standalone DAPs, want nice optical zoom and ultrawide shots, the Sony Xperia 1 VI might be the right flagship phone for you. Never mind the cost. #sony #xperia1vi...
Displays colours beautifully ; Photography controls and features ; 3.5mm headphone port ; microSD for expandable storage ; Great performance ; Long battery life ; Excellent build
Slow wired charging ; No AI productivity features ; 1080p display ; Expensive ; Niche offering
The TL;DR version: It's a pricey phone, but worth the investment if you're an audiophile or a mobile photography enthusiast. Find it at the Sony Online Store .

Functional and comfortable design.
