Samsung Galaxy J3

The Samsung Galaxy J3 is an affordable phone, the sort of handset you might buy outright to avoid signing up for a contract lasting longer than some marriages. It can be had for less than £150, but still includes a few higher-end features such as an...

Samsung Galaxy J3 review

Is the Galaxy J3 a budget beast?

Affordable ; Similar dimensions to an S7 ; Color-rich screen

Annoying manual brightness ; Not very powerful ; Camera worse than best alternatives

With a bright screen and slim design the Samsung Galaxy J3 makes a good first impression, but annoyances like a lack of auto brightness hold it back from greatness.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Review: In Depth

The Galaxy J3 is one of the lesser publicised and more affordable offerings in Samsung's 2016 lineup, but is it worth picking up or best left alone?

Great expandability ; Bright, vibrant screen ; Good battery life

Incoherent design ; Low internal storage ; So so performance

The Samsung Galaxy J3 isn’t a particularly memorable or innovative phone, but it has its merits. Provided that you can get past the convoluted design, this phone works well as a media player, namely thanks to that punchy screen, great expandability,...

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is one of the brand's cheaper mobile phones. We found this mobile phone's display pretty clear, but will you be enchanted or disheartened by its battery life and photos? The South Korean brand is better known for its...

Samsung Galaxy J3 review (2016): Good in 2016, but past its peak in 2017

An excellent low-cost handset from Samsung, but the Galaxy J3 is outdone by its sibling – the even better Galaxy J5

The Samsung Galaxy J3 is a great budget smartphone. It’s reasonably well made and has a great screen that leaves me wondering why more manufacturers don’t specify AMOLED panels on their cheap handsets.

Samsung Galaxy J3 Review

The Samsung Galaxy J3 lacks innovation but for the price bracket it's in it barely puts a foot wrong, delivering on almost all fronts.".

+ Great screen ; + Low price ; + Decent performance

- Plastic build ; - Few standout features ; - Little built in storage

The Samsung Galaxy J1 is a phone that gets almost everything right. With a plain design and no standout features it’s hard to really get excited about, but with a great screen, solid specs and decent battery life it’s well worth considering if you’re...

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016, black)

At $110 to $180 in the US (pricing varies by carrier), £140 in the UK (for the 8GB version, from Carphone Warehouse) and AU$329 in Australia, the J3 also earns points for its immediate global availability. In the notoriously carrier-controlled US, for...

The inexpensive Samsung Galaxy J3 runs the current version of Android and takes nice daylight photos. It has a long-lasting, removable battery and the camera app launches with a double-click of the home button.

Its underpowered processor makes the photo-capture slow enough to miss action shots.

Light users will do fine with Samsung's entry-level Galaxy J3, but you'll want a higher-powered phone if you plan to keep it around for two years or more.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (AT&T)

The Samsung Galaxy J3 is an affordable AT&T phone with the latest Android software and super-long battery life.

Affordable. Long battery life. Latest Android software. Rich, bright display. Expandable storage and removable battery.

Subpar call quality. Mediocre camera. Significant bloatware.

Software and Conclusions The J3 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Samsung's TouchWiz UI layer on top. App icons are different from stock Android, the app drawer has been moved to the bottom right corner of the screen, the notification shade has been...

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Duos Smartphone Review

Dynamic Duos? Samsung offers an affordable 5-inch smartphone with its Galaxy J3. It still relies on traditional virtues, such as an integrated micro-SD slot and removable battery. But is that enough to survive in the highly competitive low-cost sector?

well built casing ; micro-SD slot ; App2SD & USB OTG ; dual-SIM plus micro-SD slot ; decent screen ; accurate touchscreen ; long battery life ; removable battery ; LTE support

no light sensor ; no notification LED ; primary camera's middling quality ; Android 5.1.1 only ; GPS module with unstable signal ; quiet microphone in hands-free mode ; Wi-Fi only in 2.4 GHz band ; no Miracast or MHL support ; throttling in stress test

The Galaxy J3 (SM-J320F/DS) seems to be a lite version of last year's Galaxy J5 that has recently been replaced by its very visibly revamped Galaxy J5 (2016) successor. The heritage of the older sister model is clearly noticed in the good AMOLED panel...
