Oppo N3

The phone with 16-megapixel selfies

Great camera ; Lots of interface customisation ; Tons of hardware extras ; Decent fingerprint scanner

Big and chunky ; Slightly glitchy software

One other neat little Oppo N3 special is the LED notification light that sits under the curved rear part of the steel frame, which glows when you have any messages, emails and so on. It sits down there because the top of the phone is really owned by...

Oppo N3 review

Swivelling camera tricks and more

That spinny camera ; Quality IPS screen ; Dual SIM and microSD ; Novel O-Click accessory

Ridiculous port positioning ; Dodgy auto-brightness ; Color OS is a marmite affair ; Slightly outdated internals

The Oppo N3 is a lot of phone for the price, with well executed features and a swivelling camera that is more than just a gimmick. But if you're a fan of stock Android this might not be the one for you.

Oppo N3 review: Mechanized swivel camera gives a twist to an otherwise staid phone

The successor to the Oppo N1 skips a number and comes with an updated design -- including a motorized, rotating leatherette camera. No, really.

The Oppo N3's motorized swivel camera takes automatic panoramic shots and top quality selfies -- without having to flip the phone around.

The phone feels heavy, and you have to be careful when putting it in your pocket to avoid accidentally damaging the camera's swivel. That leather looks horrible, and 4G LTE support varies by country.

The N3 is definitely an upgrade to the N1, but its unadventurous body means you'll really only want this for the innovative camera.

Oppo N3 review

Heavy, chunky and quirky, Oppo has a different take on what a flagship phone should be

Great camera ; Decent processor ; Feature-packed

Chunky and heavy ; Marmite looks ; A bit glitchy

It’s a chunky blighter, but the Oppo N3 offers some features the techier gadgeteer will love

Oppo N3 review: Motor head

The formula for the smartphone to top all others is the industry's elusive philosopher stone. Being complete newbies, but keen as a bean, Oppo's take is perhaps the weirdest. Yet it seems to work.

Optional Dual-SIM (micro SIM resides in microSD card slot) ; 5.5" IPS LCD display of 1080 x 1920px resolution, around 403ppi ; Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Color OS 2.0 on top ; Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno...

No 4K video recording yet ; Comparably large and heavy for the screen size ; QHD resolution would have been nice ; No FM radio or IR blaster (we're nitpicking because of the high asking price) ; Hard to get in brick-and-mortar stores outside of Asia

It's clear the Oppo N3 is more than just a robust cameraphone with a quirky motorized lens - it's Oppo's current flagship. The Oppo Find 7 may have something to say about that with its 5.5" QHD display, 3GB of RAM and stereo speakers but it can't...

Oppo N3 and R5 hands-on: First look

Oppo's Singapore event is now under way and we were off to a great show - the star of the show took the stage just minutes after the start. The successor to the Oppo N1 is called Oppo N3 and retains the rotating camera module on the top, while adding a...

Oppo N3 ( white)

Novelties usually come with drawbacks, however. The camera module is separate from the chassis, making for a thicker phone, and unlike the slim and lightweight devices you see from its competitors, Oppo's N3 feels thick and heavy.

Oppo N3 (Unlocked)

Unabashedly unorthodox, the powerful Oppo N3 will turn heads with its rotating camera and unique design, although there are better deals for unlocked Android smartphones.

Long battery life. Unique rotating camera. Sharp 5.5-inch LCD. Reliable fingerprint scanner.

Awkward port placement. Heavily skinned Android.

Camera and Conclusions The most interesting feature on tap for the N3 is its motorized, rotating 16-megapixel camera. Swiping up or down in the camera app will rotate the camera between its 206-degree range, but you can also rotate it manually if you...
