Nokia N97

Has the N97 hit a sweet spot by bringing together Nokia's Communicator heritage and latest N-series technology?

Nokia N97 review

Nokia returns to form with a high end smartphone/ mini UMPC

Great touchscreen ; Solid build quality ; Impressive internal memory ; Dual flash LED 5MP camera

Unpredictable OS ; Lack of video codec support ; Chunky design ; Underpowered processor

The N97 is a great effort from Nokia with a solid chassis and a nice range of features. However, we can't help but feel that the phone has far too much unfulfilled potential for the concept.

Nokia N97

Nokia's N97 is the long-awaited successor to the wildly popular N95, and its chunky older brother the N96. It's Nokia's new flagship handset, meaning that it is the company's answer to Summer 2009's grand slam of smartphones. But how does it stack up...

Full of features, more storage than you can shake a stick at, excellent media playback functionality

Clunky and outdated Symbian operating system, slightly odd QWERTY keyboard

Overall, the N97 is a fantastic piece of hardware. Top end specs, a great screen, near-infinite storage and more features than you can shake a stick at mean that this handset is among the most capable in the marketplace. Where it's let down is in the...

Nokia N97 mobile phone - First Look

Nokia N97 review

But the Nokia falls short of its potential, largely because the operating system (OS) it uses - the Symbian S60 5th Edition - lacks the refinement of other OSes. Still, the N97 impresses in certain areas, particularly audio and video.

In common with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the Nokia N97 is a really cool phone that can do a lot, but the features just don't come together as seamlessly as in other smartphones on the market. The Symbian OS doesn't simply need an update; it needs an...

Nokia N97 Review

The N97 is very much a phone designed for the internet. It comes with a large 3.5 inch touch-screen display and a full QWERTY keyboard, and when combined with the always open window, provides excellent internet browsing functionality.

The Nokia N97 is expected to be available in the early half of 2009 at around £500 sim free. Bookmark this page to check the latest availability as we’ll be looking for the best deals for you.
