Nextbit Robin

The Nextbit Robin is a top-level 2016 phone with a difference. Where the Samsung Galaxy S7 is like a Galaxy S6 but better and the LG G5 goes all Inspector Gadget with plug-in modules, the Nextbit Robin's whole deal is that it is a ‘cloud phone'.

Nextbit Robin review

And now for something completely different

The Nextbit Robin's cloud storage feature isn't persuasive, but even without that it's a great value handset that stands out from the crowd. It's just a shame the battery doesn't last a bit longer.

Nextbit Robin review: A clouded vision of smartphone storage

The Nextbit Robin aims to resolve your storage woes with a clever software system that uses the cloud and will smartly archive and restore your content based on your usage and needs. The Nextbit Robin makes a strong case as a newcomer to the smartphone...

Interesting design, good camera, nice display, good spec for price, free from software clutter, good fingerprint scanner

Some software oddities, the cloud side seems sort of pointless, no microSD, some build quality concerns

The Nextbit Robin makes a strong case as a newcomer to the smartphone world. We like the refreshing design - although bear in mind those odd lumps and bumps we've found on our review sample - and we like the clutter-free software approach.

Nextbit Robin review

As mobile computing continues its march towards a web-based, cloud storage future, the Nextbit Robin embraces the concept fully. But do you need to? We break down this curious Kickstarter-funded Android handset.

The final feelings for us are ones of a chance missed. Nextbit has created a unique phone and created a buzz, but they’ve gone out on a limb by pushing a cloud storage function that is much better on paper than in reality. Had the company plumped for a...

Nextbit Robin review: Cloud storage-driven Robin phone left the nest too soon

Nextbit's new Android phone has a great look and concept, but by trying too hard to be different, it gets in its own way.

The Nextbit Robin has a fresh, minimalist design, the latest Android software and a flawless fingerprint reader.

Its cloud storage solution has some execution turbulence, and battery life could be better.

Nextbit's unlocked Robin is a decent midrange Android phone, but its novel cloud storage concept isn't seamless enough for the masses.

Nextbit Robin review

A cloud-based phone to solve your storage woes?

Looks nice, feels nice (but big) ; Includes plenty of cloud storage ; Respectable camera hardware ; Good speakers

Incredibly slow camera (bug) ; Buggy software ; Core app-zapping feature annoys ; Bigger than its screen inch count suggests ; Mediocre battery life

Backing up your photos is always a good idea, but this buggy phone's app-archiving is more annoying than useful

Nextbit Robin: A glimpse of the future of smartphone storage [REVIEW]

The Nextbit Robin is a unique Android phone that leverages cloud storage so you'll never run out of space, but the toy-like design is a turnoff.

Versatile cloud-based storage solution ; Bright high-res screen ; Great performance ; Fast fingerprint sensor ; All-day battery life

Toy-like design ; Laggy camera shutter ; Hollow stereo speakers

The Nextbit Robin is great if you're storage hoarder, but the toy-like design is a turnoff.

Nextbit Robin review: This ambitious 'cloud phone' is beautiful but flawed

Nextbit's first phone is as ambitious as it is pretty. The phone's way of automatically backing up apps and photos you haven't touched in a while works better than expected, and just might free some people from the dread of full phone anxiety. Too bad,...

Cloud backups work well ; Gorgeous design ; Nearly stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Camera can be slow to shoot ; Mediocre battery life

If were a fortune-teller, I'd do two things right now: figure out the next big Powerball payout numbers, and peer into the future to see if Nextbit's cloud-centric approach pays off. The company's cloud backup system just works -- often works...

Nextbit Robin review

Nextbit's Robin is a cloud-first phone that we highly recommend.

The Robin’s design is different and it will appeal to a lot of people. The headline cloud storage feature definitely solves a major issue that many of us have with modern smartphones. We like the attention to detail in Nextbit’s apps and the light...
