Moto Z

At one point, it appeared as if modular smartphones were going to be all the rage. While they perhaps haven't become as prevalent as many had expected (RIP Project Ara), it hasn't stopped phones such as the LG G5 having a go at optional add-ons, with...

Moto Z review

The world's thinnest smartphone is also the best modular phone

Creative modular accessories ; Fingerprint sensor with a twist ; World's thinnest phone ; Google Daydream compatible

No 3.5mm headphone jack ; More expensive than Moto X ; Big camera bump, small battery

Moto Z is an incredibly thin Android phone, yet it's still able to boast the specs of its rival and add modular accessories to the mix. This is a stepping stone to a fully modular phone. We only wish we could exchange its big camera bump for the sorely...

Motorola Moto Z review

At 5.2mm thick, the Moto Z is one of the thinnest smartphones in existence. Is this a good reason to buy it, though? Find out in our Moto Z review.

The Moto Z is a mixed bag, successful in some areas and not in others. As long as you can deal with the jettisoning of the headphone jack and carrying a Power Pack Mod, the modular nature of the Moto Z makes it a compelling alternative to other...

Motorola Moto Z

The unlocked Motorola Moto Z works on AT&T and T-Mobile while offering the same slim design and unique removable backs as the Z Droid on Verizon.

Slim design. Useful removable backs. Excellent performance. No bloatware. Google Daydream-compatible.

Camera isn't the best. No headphone jack.

For $700, the unlocked Moto Z offers the same slim build, excellent performance, and unique removable backs as Verizon's Moto . If you're an AT&T or T-Mobile user into the idea of Mot Mods, the Moto Z is a great choice. Only the LG G5 has similar...

Moto Z review: This magnetic, 'modular' phone just clicks

Halfway between Google's ambitious Project Ara and LG's clunky G5 emerges a modular phone with an approach we can get behind.

The Motorola Moto Z is thin, fast and (literally) snappy. Those magnetic Mods accessories are practical and easy to use.

The phone looks naked without the Mods, and its fingerprint reader can be easily mistaken for a home button.

Ambitious, quirky and ultimately useful, the Motorola Moto Z is the most polished and customizable modular phone yet.

Motorola Moto Z Droid

The Motorola Moto Z Droid is a cool smartphone with removable backs, but it lags slightly behind its bigger sibling.

Slim design. Functional removable backs. Excellent performance.

Wi-Fi performance issues. Camera isn't the best.

Comparisons and Conclusions The Motorola Moto packs a lot into a very slim package. Were there no Force version, it would be a close second to the Galaxy S7 series. Motorola's Android software is better than Samsung's, and the Moto Mods are genuinely...

Motorola Moto Z review

Upon its debut in July, Motorola's premium Moto Z made waves with its magnetic snap-on accessories. Unlike the LG G5 , which featured swappable components but fell short on execution, the Moto Z's modularity offered coherence and ease of use.

The Motorola Moto Z & Moto Z Force (Droid Editions) Review

The relationship between Motorola and Verizon dates back to 2009 and the original Motorola Droid smartphone. Since then, the two companies have paired up for a number of Droid branded phones that are either only available from Verizon initially or are...

If you find the current Moto Mods appealing, the Moto Z Droid is the best option. Its thinner and lighter frame means less bulk with a module attached, and its smaller battery can be supplemented by a Power Pack or one of the other Moto Mods’ internal...

Moto Z review: This magnetic, 'modular' phone just clicks

With the Moto Z (or Moto Z Droid Edition as it's called by US carrier Verizon), customization isn't about what your phone looks like. It's about what it does. Snap-on "Moto Mods" give your phone a meatier battery, turn it into a boombox for your...
