Moto X Play

The Moto X Play is the Motorola's latest mid-range device, offering up more power and a better display than the cheaper Moto G – a phone we love – but at a price that is lighter on the wallet than the incoming Moto X Style.

Fantastic display ; Durable build ; Detailed camera ; No ugly skins

Poor low-light photos ; Minor performance issues ; Turbo charger not included

Moto X Play review

It's time for Motorola to entertain you

Great camera ; Good screen ; Great battery life ; Stock Android ; Decent price

Limited customisation ; Not fully waterproof ; No wireless charging ; No TurboPower charger in the box

The Moto X Play does a lot right with an impressive camera, superb battery life and attractive price, but there's a frustrating number of missing features and options.

Hands on Moto X Play review: Motorola's new handset wants to bring the fun

It looks fantastic, but is this phone good value for money?

Motorola Moto X Play review: Big-battery beauty

Motorola has doubled-up its Moto X devices in 2015, offering two different models in this popular family. The Moto X Style is the larger model with more advanced specs, with the Moto X Play (reviewed here) the more natural replacement for the previous...

Battery life, Moto Maker options, price, pretty much bloatware free

Not hugely exciting, camera low light performance weak, no fingerprint scanner

The Moto X Play is a headset that appears to have one primary focus: long-lasting battery life. If you want an endurance champion, then the Moto X Play could well be the handset for you.

Motorola Moto X Play review

By cutting a few corners, the Moto X Play is cheaper than 2014's Moto X. But while it's a great mid-range phone, a few too many compromises mean it won't please everyone. Find out why in our Motorola Moto X Play review

Overall, the Moto X Play is a decent mid-range phone. But, it's not the great upgrade which Moto X owners were looking for. The camera is good, as is the screen, but performance could be better - as could battery life. Had Motorola offered the dual-SIM...

Motorola Moto X Play review: High-end features, mid-range price tag

With its great screen, solid camera, customisable design and water-resistant body, the Motorola Moto X Play packs in loads of features for not much cash.

The Motorola Moto X Play packs a great screen and camera. You can customise the look to suit your tastes and it won't conk out the first time you spill your beer on it.

It lacks the luxurious wood and leather back cover options of the pricier Moto X Style.

The Moto X Play's blend of everything you'd expect from a higher-end smartphone with a customisable waterproof design and a great price makes it a superb midrange phone.

Motorola Moto X Play review

Heavy duty Android for hardcore users on a budget

Massive battery ; Good screen ; Advanced camera sensor

Camera could be snappier ; … and it’s begging for OIS ; Not the prettiest design

It may not have Moto’s usual wow factor, but shades of the Moto G’s value make this a top affordable pick

Motorola Moto X Play Review: In Depth

Motorola Moto X Play review: We test out Motorola's latest no-frills flagship phone, the Moto X Play, which offers a happy medium between the budget...

Gorgeous screen ; Capable camera ; Smooth performance ; Clean interface

Average everyday battery life ; Camera needs manual control

The Moto X Play isn’t the Motorola flagship that we’re excited to see, but it’s a very good handset for the price and a solid rival to the OnePlus 2. The spacious, vibrant screen and expandable storage make it a media monster, while amateur...

Motorola Moto X Play hands-on review

The Moto X Play sits between the Moto G & Moto X Style as an impressive mid-range phone. Here's our Moto X Play hands-on review.

We're pleased to see a price tag of less than £300 for the new Moto X Play, and are impressed by the new camera, display and design. It's a shame there's no waterproofing - it seems odd that Motorola limited that to its budget model - but we think this...

Motorola Moto X Play review

Motorola suggests that its Motorola Moto X Play is the 'perfect partner'. It might not have the glamourous looks of the Samsung Galaxy S6, yet its simple presentation combined with great battery life are certainly very tempting. But does it have the...
