The Moto G8 Plus brings more power to the table with a versatile camera system array, stereo speakers, minimal bezels and an efficient battery management system. It's a competent budget device, although it's got a few problems.

Auto-brightness adjustment still excessive ; Other competition - from Xiaomi ; Redmi - continues to squeeze ; Cameras lack wide-angle / zoom / more advanced capabilities ; The G8 Power makes much more sense to buy

Strong battery life, refined design over its predecessor and ample performance show the G8 Plus has progressed. But while its problems are few and far between, the cheaper G8 Power delivers much the same (minus the 48MP camera) with better battery life...

Excellent battery life, particularly where it matters most - screen-on tasks.

While it does get reasonably bright, the display has several flaws (bluish whites in all modes, black illumination when looking it at an angle, and uneven backlighting along the edges).

Having said that, there are bits about the Moto G8 Plus that make it hard to recommend wholeheartedly. It's the display that has us put off the most, and the ultra-wide video camera doesn't really get us excited either. If you have the option to go for...
