Moto G6 Play review

A phone you'll want to play with

Good battery life ; Surprisingly good screen ; Great value

Camera a touch slow ; Mediocre night photos ; Scrolling software bug

The Moto G6 Play is the most basic model in the G6 range but still has plenty going for it, including a long-lasting battery and a decent screen. If you're on a tight budget it's easy to recommend.

Moto G6 Play review: All the battery, none of the expense

The G6 Play offers a whole lot of goodness for its modest asking price. Its real win is battery life, which goes on and on. However, such capacity

Long-lasting battery is mighty impressive ; Affordable asking price ; Modern design and display ups the quality compared to previous generations

Only 720p panel resolution ; Performance can feel a little slow at times ; Micro-USB port is old fashioned ; Trio of G6 phone options is confounding

Moto G6 Play

Cheaper than the other two G6 phones but with a huge battery and cool design, the Moto G6 Play is far from the runt of the litter – it might even be the best. Here's our full review.

Motorola Moto G6 Play review

The best sub-£200 phone right now? You betcha

Excellent battery life ; Large, 18:9 screen ; Stylish build for the price

Camera is average ; No waterproofing

A cracking smartphone that we’d happily pay twice as much for

Motorola Moto G6 Play mobile phone review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Motorola Moto G6 Play is the most affordable mobile phone in a range designed to strike an appealing balance between price and performance. At just £170 is there any way it can pull it off, or does it sacrifice too much in the name of saving money?...

Moto G6 Play review: Cheap but charming

More like the Moto G5.5, the G6 Play is still an appealing package

I was a bit sceptical of the Moto G6 Play going into this review. You’re looking at a processor which was budget-friendly two years ago in a package only £50 cheaper than the excellent Moto G6. That didn’t seem a big enough price drop to make it worth...

Moto G6 Play review

The Moto G6 Play looks far better than its low price tag, and it can last nearly two days.

Beautiful design ; More durable than other glass-body G6 phones ; Great battery life ; Simple, bloat-free software

Camera performs poor in low light ; Somewhat sluggish performance ; Screen isn’t too sharp

The Moto G6 Play doesn’t look like a budget phone and can last two days, but everything else about it is average.

An affordable phone with a huge battery

It gets nearly four hours more battery life per charge than the iPhone X and costs one-fifth the price.

The Moto G6 Play's battery is bigger than phones that cost much more money.

In everyday use, the speed is fine, but it got one of the lowest scores in our speed tests this year. The screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight and it lacks waterproofing.

The Moto G6 Play has a long battery life for the cost, but smart buyers would uplevel to the Moto G6 for just a little bit more.

Motorola Moto G6 Play

The Motorola Moto G6 Play is a more affordable take on the standard G6 that trades some power for battery life, striking an ideal balance of price and performance.

Affordable. Support for all major US carriers. Solid specs and overall performance. Long battery life.

Average camera. Still uses micro USB.

The Moto G6 Play is the most widely available phone in Motorola's lineup. At $200 (or less, depending on the model), it strikes a good balance between price and performance, with excellent battery life that can keep it going all day. If you're looking...
