Not quite everything you could want from a smartphone, but not a bad effort.…

The ability to send the screen ; s contents to a projector could come in handy

There's no GPS, and it is difficult to use the keyboard quickly

i-mate Ultimate 8502

The first HSPA smartphone released in Australia may also be the best Windows Mobile available to date.

Excellent connectivity including HSPA, GPS and Wi-Fi. Slim and solid build. TV-out. Telstra services including Foxtel.

Tiny QWERTY keyboard. Lower resolution display compared to previous i-mates.

With its smaller size, better connectivity and improved battery life, the Ultimate 8502 is the excellent smartphone the previous i-mates were so close to being.

Long battery life and superb WiFi range are the 8502's strongest positives. It also packs a great LCD screen. In the end, this i-mate only struggles because of its laggy performance and keypad.

Bright and responsive touchscreen LCD, good battery life, long WiFi range

Laggy performance, keypad is difficult to use if you’ve got chubby fingers
