Huawei G8

When a brand-new product gets announced with just a brief mention of the specs and not much else, I would normally assume that it wasn't going to be much good. But that can't be said for the Huawei G8.

Huawei G8 review

It's the Mate S in a cheaper guise

Strong spec sheet ; Quick finger scanner ; Decent screen

Chunky, heavy build ; Questionable interface

Huawei is a master at churning out quality mid-range handsets and the G8 is no exception. It's a fuss-free smartphone with a decent feature set.

Huawei G8 Review

Huawei G8 Hands-On Review at IFA 2015: Despite taking up mere moments in Huawei's expansive IFA presentation, the new G8 is actually a compelling device...

Premium materials

Chunky proportions

It’s not quite as elegant to look at as its launch partner the Mate S, but the Huawei G8 still packs of lot of the same premium features for considerably less money..

Review: Huawei G8 – the mid-range phone to beat them all

With the release of the Huawei Mate S, the company introduced their new flagship. Hidden within the announcement was the relatively less exciting news from them that they had a[...]

If you haven’t gathered by now, let me make it clear. I absolutely love this phone. If I had to change one thing, I would put vanilla Android on it, but even without that experience, it is a great phone and definitely worth your top dollar.

Huawei G8 review (hands-on): Huawei hits its budget straps again

Another handsome budget smartphone from Huawei, but this one has a Qualcomm processor

I thought the Honor 7 was pretty good for a £250 smartphone when I had a look at it last week, and the G8 looks to offer a similar package for those who prefer a larger-screened smartphone.

Huawei G8 (GX8) Smartphone Review

High-end feeling. With the G8, Huawei has launched a mid-range model on the market that already meets premium-range standards with its very high-quality build. Our report clarifies what compromises have to be made compared with other top models.

superb build ; solid casing ; good memory configuration ; user interface with extra features ; very good WiFi range ; micro-SD card slot & App2SD ; USB OTG ; dual-SIM support ; fast fingerprint scanner ; decent camera features ; reliable touchscreen ;...

WiFi only in 2.4 GHz band ; screen with color tint ; occasional system lags ; middling performance ; weak headset ; non-removable battery

At a first glance, Huawei's new mid-range scion impresses with appealing, high-quality build that would even fit into the premium range. Beyond that, the user does not miss out much technically. The G8 has both the memory configuration and the decent...

Huawei GX8 Review: A Well Designed, Premium Feeling Mid-Range Smartphone

With more users balking at rising smartphone costs, our Huawei GX8 review looks at an unlocked, mid-range Android smartphone solution.

Solid design, premium feel. Decent performance, camera, and battery life. Great price point.

Speakers could use a bit of work.

Huawei GX8 Review

There's nothing wrong with wanting to get the best smartphone you can for your money. When midtier price points include such great options as the Motorola Moto X and Nexus 5X, a phone with an unimpressive design and overbearing Android skin gets lost...

The fingerprint scanner on the back of the GX8 is a nice, premium touch on an otherwise standard-fare phone.

Thanks to its bland design and a terrible software overlay, the phone feels frustratingly subpar.

The Huawei GX8 tries hard to be relevant, but it does a few too many things wrong to beat out the competition.

Huawei GX8 review: A handset that redefines mid-range

Huawei has dominated headlines with the release of the Nexus 6P, Mate 8, P9 and P9 Plus. But during the same time, Huawei has also introduced the GX8 - a handset that could redefine the mid-range.
