HTC Desire Z

The best smartphone with a physical keyboard? Maybe?

Excellent screen ; Physical keyboard ; Decent battery life

Awkward video interface ; Slow Flash playback

The HTC Desire Z is lovely device. It's hardware design is classy and elegant and its fit and finish is up there with the best. Add in an exceptional quality screen and a very good keyboard and you have a device that ticks a huge number of boxes. There...

HTC Desire Z review

HTC's next Android wunderkind wanders in sporting a QWERTY keyboard

Aluminium chassis ; Responsive UI ; Android 2.2 with Wi-Fi hotspot ; Decent enough camera ; Both physical and onscreen keyboards work well

Screen wobbles in closed mode ; Hinge seems suspect ; Battery not terrible but could have been bigger ; No e-book reader, unlike Desire HD

The HTC Desire is, in effect, the second in the new Android range from HTC, with its much larger brother, the HTC Desire HD, taking most of the limelight.

HTC Desire Z

There aren't that many Android devices that offer a physical QWERTY keyboard. The HTC Desire Z squares up against the Motorola Milestone 2 nicely, leaving other devices to mainly scrap it out for the mid-range dollars. Even with the Desire Z taking a...

Great screen, plenty of functions, Android 2.2, looks great, in-video focusing

Keyboard feels too wide to comfortably use, hinge feels a little too easy to close

The HTC Desire Z should be taken from two angles. The first is that it offers a touchscreen smartphone experience that many will love, with HTC Sense offering up its easy take on Android and packing in plenty of connected features for you to enjoy. You...

HTC Desire Z review

HTC is continuing to add more phones to its Desire series of Android phone. After the recently announced HTC Desire HD, the HTC Desire Z focusses on a different segment of users. With different specs and design, let's take a look at what HTC is up to...

When it comes to Android phones with slide-out QWERTY keyboards, there are not many choices. The HTC Desire Z is a neat-Android smartphone with decent specs and great design.

HTC Desire Z Review

The HTC Desire Z is cosmetically stylish - with it's grey/silver finish - and feels great to hold in the palm of your hand(s), the only quibble we had with the Desire was the placement of the microSD card slot under the battery, but with it's ultra...

HTC Desire Z

HTC's stable is packed with some well bred horses. The Android powered Desire Z is no exception.

Excellent QWERTY keyboard, good display and build quality.

Bulky, average battery life, speakerphone not that great.

HTC Desire Z review

The HTC Desire Z is the spiritual successor to the HTC Dream, but packs hardware more akin to that of the Desire and Desire HD. What sets it apart from the flood of Android smartphones hitting our shores?

All in all, HTC has made a solid device with the Desire Z. The hardware is very competitive with other high-end smartphones and the bundled software is excellent and adds a lot of value to the device.
