HP iPAQ Data Messenger review

Can the Data Messenger stand up to the latest QWERTY WinMo phones?

QWERTY keyboard ; Windows Mobile smartphone ; Office Mobile software included ; 65,000 colour touch screen ; HSDPA 3G ; Wi-Fi ; A-GPS ; 3.1 megapixel camera

Bulky and heavy ; Insensitive touchscreen operation ; Average earphones supplied

Spec-wise, the Data Messenger seems like a decent offering, but in use it just doesn't measure up to similar smart phones

HP iPAQ Data Messenger review

If you are set on a HP device, maybe wait a little until WM6.5 is released and ships with it. Hopefully HP will improve the keyboard and up the screen resolution, I look forward to a revised model

HP iPaq Data Messenger Windows Mobile smartphone

Bulky, awkward and under-specced, there are rather better Windows smartphones available than this one.

A couple of years ago, this would probably have seemed like a decently solid, well-specced smartphone. But the competition has moved on, raising the standards of both style and function, and the Data Messenger doesn't cut it on either front.

HP iPaq Data Messenger

Though it comes with some business-centric security features, this iPaq falls short when compared with other Windows Mobile devices out there.

Good suite of security software, Relatively inexpensive, Dedicated ringer switch

Poor battery life, QWERTY keypad hard to use, Small QVGA display, Optical sensor for directional pad not effective

HP iPAQ Data Messenger

The HP iPAQ Data Messenger 3G smartphone with large touch screen display, full slide-out alphanumeric keyboard and GPS gives a new style to your mobile messaging experience. The HP iPAQ Data Messenger helps you communicate with confidence and distinction.

The software is the standard package for a Windows phone. You get a Windows OS and three MS Office programs. The Notes-Tasks-Calendar-Calculator applications are the common ones found in every Windows Mobile phone.

HP iPAQ Data Messenger - HardwareZone.com

The HP iPAQ Data Messenger lacks that X-factor to stand out from the crowd of smartphones with QWERTY keyboards. We make our case within.
