First Impressions: Honor 90

Honor looks to further stretch the boundaries of the mid-range smartphone market with its latest device, the Honor 90.

The Honor 90 is the brand’s latest mid-range phone, which brings some impressive features to the table.

Honor 90 review: an affordable ace

Looking for an Android phone under £500? The Honor 90 should be high up your list

Strong value for money ; Great snap-and-shoot cameras ; Beautiful design

Touchscreen isn't particularly responsive ; No IP-rating for water-resistance ; No 4K 60fps video

Far from cheap and cheerful, the Honor 90 is a great value proposition with a beautiful aesthetic, excellent camera and strong battery life, plus 12GB of RAM is more than most at this price. It's not perfect – the touchscreen is not exactly a joy to...

Honor 90 review: a supremely capable handset that doesn’t demand the big bucks

Flagship features without the price tag

Rich, eye-friendly display ; Premium-looking design ; Fast 66W wired charging

No IP water-resistance rating ; Only two years of software updates ; No wireless charging

Like its predecessor, the Honor 90 offers premium specs in a stylish design package that doesn’t come at the expense of, well, expense. There are some compromises – particularly under the hood – but this is a mightily impressive mid-range handset,...

Honor 90 initial review: A promising midranger with 200MP camera

Honor has launched its latest mid-range phone, the Honor 90. I've got my hands on it for some first impressions.

The Honor 90 is a promising midranger with some impressive specs. From our time with it so far, it looks great and performs very well indeed, giving its not insignificant competition something to think about.

Honor 90 review: pixel packed

Can a triple-digit pixel count camera make the Honor 90 a must buy in the mid-range, or is it more of an awesome looking also-ran?

Sharp looks and quality build ; OLED screen a joy for gaming and watching videos ; Main camera packs in plenty of detail

Depth camera not a worthwhile inclusion ; Image processing can be OTT at times ; Missing features found in similarly-priced rivals

A very capable mid-ranger that looks and feels like a much pricier phone. It’s fast and takes a pleasing picture, but faces increasingly strong competition.

Honor 90 review

The Honor 90 is a solid mid-range smartphone with an excellent display, but it doesn't do enough elsewhere to beat the big brands

Class-leading display ; Decent main camera ; Loads of storage ; Good battery life

Cheap, plasticky feel ; No wireless charging ; Only promised two Android updates

The Honor 90’s best feature is its quad-curved screen, with top specs and extra eye care features – but the rest of the package is only average, so there’s better value to be found elsewhere.

Honor 90 Review: A 200-megapixel snapper with a pocket-friendly price

Following the budget Honor 90 Lite comes the sub-£450 Honor 90 - doubling up the megapixel count with an impressive 200-megapixel camera.

Premium quality display you'd expect only on a more expensive phone ; Overclocked Snapdragon chip packs a punch ; Primary camera is excellent and offers incredibly detailed shots in hi-res mode ; Good low-light performance and noise reduction on video

No stereo sound playback ; No case or charger in box

Honor 90 review

The Honor 90 is the latest in the company's numbered series. As such, it is not a proper flagship offer. That role seems to currently be reserved for the...

Luxurious exterior and eye-catching design.

No splash protection rating.

All things considered, we would say that the Honor 90 appeals with its design first and foremost and less so with its feature set. It's not a bad value proposition by any means, but better hardware can definitely be had in the same price range.

Honor 90 Review: Look at me!

The Honor 90 brings some interesting features to the midrange category, but they come at a price. Literally!

Slim, lightweight, and stylish ; Fast and responsive (Snapdragon 7 Gen 1) ; Flexible memory configurations ; Bright and vivid AMOLED display ; 3840 PWM dimming to reduce eye strain ; Big battery and fast wired charging ; Generous retail box ; Decent...

A bit pricey ; No telephoto camera ; Short software support cycle ; No wireless charging ; No IP rating ; Plastic frame
