Garmin-Asus A50 review

The Garmin-Asus A50 is a step-up from the entry level Garmin-Asus A10, the A50 Android smartphone has a larger screen and a sleeker design. The A50 doesn't have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and it uses the same processor as the entry-level model.

The Optus-exclusive Garmin-Asus A50 Android smartphone represents good value, offering a larger screen than the mid-range Garmin-Asus A10. This smartphone falls short in a number of areas, including the exclusion of a standard headphone jack, but an...

Bottom line: While the Garmin-Asus A50 is an excellent GPS device that offers turn-by-turn directions for motorists, it trails other midrange smartphones in performance.

Garmin-Asus A50 Android smartphone

The Garmin-Asus A50 combines Garmin's GPS expertise with an Asus-built Android mobile phone.

Excellent navigation capabilities, sales package includes window mount and AC charger, 4GB internal memory, multitouch, good value smartphone

No 3.5mm headphone jack, touchscreen isn't as responsive as other smartphones, not the fastest performance, phone interface lacks polish

Garmin-Asus nuvifone A50

The nuvifone's Linux heritage can be seen in the M50, an Android nuvifone that certainly doesn't skimp in the navigation department.

4GB onboard memory

No earphone jack

The GPS is the key selling point of what is otherwise an average phone. However, the Android 2.1 update offers better value in this part of the world.

Garmin-Asus Combines GPS With Smartphone

The Garmin-Asus Nuvifone A50 is an Android smartphone that brings Garmin navigation to your handset. It may not have the power and pizzazz as other phones currently on offer, but it does a great job in making the user experience as easy as possible.

Solid build; Good GPS capability; Comes with all the accessories you need for navigation and mobile phone use; Comes with built-in storage

Slow processor; No dedicated 3.5mm jack; Outdated Android OS; Not a lot of use for widgets; Maybe too simple for some users
