The entry-level BlackBerry 8520 swaps the mini trackball for a new optical trackpad, and makes up for it small screen with an excellent physical keyboard.

It would be fairly easy to dismiss the BlackBerry Curve 8520 out of hand, but it could potentially be a big mistake to do so. The Curve 8520 is RIM punting into the budget end of the market, but still offering the two things that people really get...

RIM (BlackBerry) is continuing its push into the consumer smartphone space with the launch of a BlackBerry Curve model that will cost markedly less on a monthly contract that previous models and that will also be available on a pay as you go basis.

The model in question (8520) is not new and was released in the summer of 2009. An accessible price of $300 and BlackBerry OS make 8520 Curve a viable business smartphone in 2011 as well
