Asus ZenFone Zoom

Hands-on: Asus packs optical zoom in its new smartphone

All told, we’re really looking forward to giving the ZenFone Zoom a proper test run closer to its release date later this year. If that camera holds up it could be a real contender especially as Asus is planning to charge only $399 for it.

Asus ZenFone Zoom review

What's a ZenFone 2 with a better camera worth to you?

Slick design ; Thoughtful button placement ; Some neat ZenUI features ; Slight reduction of photo noise

Squishy button action ; Questionable value ; Subpar screen ; ZenUI hurts more than helps ; Camera doesn't rock the boat

Asus adds svelte styling and a 3x optical zoom snapper to the ZenFone 2. While the new traits are welcomed, neither makes a convincing enough argument to make this your next phone.

Asus ZenFone Zoom eyes-on: The phone with 3x optical zoom - Pocket-lint

Asus has shown off a new smartphone called the ZenFone Zoom. The company didn't give the media a chance to touch and hold the ZenFone Zoom on the show

Asus ZenFone Zoom review

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is the first phone with an optical zoom lens that doesn't protrude out of the phone, a mighty impressive accomplishment. But don't start tossing money at Asus just yet. The phone's spammy software and slow camera drag it down too...

Asus' ZenFone Zoom breaks new ground with a built-in optical zoom camera that doesn't stick out or appear to move. Photos taken are generally great, but worse in low light.

The phone software peppers you with ads by default. Camera performance feels sluggish.

The Asus ZenFone Zoom puts cool new camera tech to work, but its bloated software and poor overall performance keep it from being a phone you'd want to buy.

Asus Zenfone Zoom Review

Smartphone makers have been trying to offer phones with DSLR-like capabilities for a while now and the Zenfone Zoom is Asus' latest attempt.

Impressive camera ; Massive internal storage

Unconfirmed for the UK ; Middling design

We don’t yet know whether the Zenfone Zoom is destined for the UK, but the continued dialogue Asus strikes up with such a standout device makes us think that it wants to be considered a serious player in the space of high-end camera phones, much like...

Asus Zenfone Zoom [REVIEW]

The Asus Zenfone Zoom is outdated in terms of software and is no longer competitively priced in an Android market that's full of sub-$400 option.

Fantastic battery life ; Physical camera controls ; True optical zoom

Runs older version of Android ; Inconsistent picture quality ; Bloatware that's borderline spam

Almost a year after it was announced, the Asus Zenfone Zoom is outdated in terms of software and is no longer competitively priced in an Android market that’s full of sub-$400 options.

Innovative camera, iffy performance: Our ZenFone Zoom review

The Asus ZenFone Zoom has a winning design for a phone with an optical lens, but this first-generation model still isn't good enough to buy.

Asus ZenFone Zoom pure black

At $399 (which is around £275 or AU$560), the Zoom isn't cheap -- you're paying the early adopter tax to get your hands on it. If you're looking at alternative phones with great cameras, then your best bet would still be flagships such as the Samsung...

Asus ZenFone Zoom (Unlocked)

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is a camera-centric unlocked phone with a 3x optical zoom lens, but it's held back by average sensor quality, a slow camera app, and a lack of 4K video recording.

3x optical zoom. Manual camera controls. Premium build.

Sluggish camera app. No 4K video. Unimpressive battery life. Dated UI with heavy skin and lots of bloatware.

Software and Conclusions The Zoom ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop , which is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth now that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is showing up on more devices . Asus has confirmed that the ZenFone 2 line will get Marshmallow....

Asus ZenFone Zoom review

Do you need a zoom lens on your phone? For years, consumers have been more than satisfied with the default focal length of iPhones and Android handsets. It's a wide — but not too wide — view that...

Premium look and feel ; microSD card support ; Great dedicated shutter button

The camera itself is lacking ; Too many useless apps ; Average battery life
