Asus ZenFone 5 review | Trusted Reviews

Premium design details, impressive hardware and a robust dual-camera arrangement set the mid-range Asus ZenFone 5 up for success.

Feature-rich user experience ; Large, bright display ; Beautiful design

Convoluted UI elements ; No IP-certification ; Buggy software

Asus Zenfone 5

The Asus Zenfone 5 comes alongside the smaller Zenfone 4 and the slightly larger Zenfone 6, and it's our pick of the bunch.

Great screen ; Decent camera for the price ; Excellent value

Battery life not great ; A few camera bugs to squish

Asus Zenfone 5 review

Great hardware meets okay software

Large, bold screen ; Good value ; Glass-metal design with Asus twist

Mediocre low-light image quality ; Inconsistent camera ; Iffy fingerprint scanner

The Asus Zenfone 5’s great-sounding hardware doesn’t seem fully exploited here, but you do get a lot of phone for your money.

Asus ZenFone V review

A good phone made even better by the price

Hard-to-beat price ; Fun and decent camera ; Nice AMOLED screen

Not a boombox replacement ; Verizon exclusive ; Questionable durability

The Asus Zenfone V is not a showstopper when comparing hardware and design with other flagship phones. It’s a good phone with some aspects that step it up into ‘great’ territory, but what really seals the deal is the mind-blowing price tag. The Asus...

Asus ZenFone 5 review

Can this phone bring you a little zen?

Lovely bright screen ; Great performance ; Attractive UI

Below average battery ; Out of date Android version ; Future updates uncertain

It was a long time coming, but the Asus ZenFone 5 is a great mid-range Android device with a lovely screen, excellent performance and a decent camera that just needs the latest version of Android and a bigger battery.

Asus Zenfone 5 LTE review: Yin and yang

About two years ago cheap phones reeked of compromise; the gap between entry-level Android phones and top-end ones was massive. But that's all changed recently, with phones like the Asus Zenfone 5 and Motorola Moto G (2014) plugging the gap. Spend in...

Generally neat design, good value prospect

Screen brightness, limited battery, over-saturated camera results

The Asus Zenfone 5 offers much of the experience of a phone that, until recently, would have cost twice the price. However, its main competitor, the pocket-pleasing Moto G (2014), does make it tough for the Asus to truly stand out.

Asus ZenFone 5 review

Notch just another face in the crowd - Asus' latest is a competent, if familiar, mid-ranger

Great performance and battery life ; Premium looks and build ; Stripped back OS with no bloat

Wide angle camera below par ; Fingerprint wake can be a bit slow ; Haven’t I seen you somewhere before?

Great looks, decent performance and a slick, simple version of Android. Camera quality is more of a mixed bag, but this ZenFone is still great value.

Asus Zenfone 5 Review: In Depth

Asus's Zenfone 5 rocks a compact, curvaceous body and an 8-megapixel camera, plus the slick ZenUI interface. But will it give you a Zen-like feeling?

Good overall performance ; Smart user interface ; Comfortable and well designed

Weak, non-replaceable battery ; Average camera

Asus ZenFone 5: Cool features and an attractive price undercut by poor performance

The 5-inch ZenFone has features that high-end flagship phones will envy, but lacks the power to pull it off.

The Asus ZenFone 5's simple design and sturdy build impress. The Asus ZenUI comes with interesting new features that enhance the Android experience.

The camera shutter is a little slow, even in bright daylight.

The ZenFone 5 is able to give other budget handsets such as Xiaomi's Redmi a challenge but in order to get the best from the phone, be sure to get the 2GB version to avoid any performance issues.

Asus ZenFone 5

The Asus ZenFone 5 borrows a lot from the iPhone X, but pairs that design with a bigger display, some AI software tweaks, and a much, much lower price. Here's our ZenFone 5 review.
