Generational upgrades are few and far between.

We still think the Zenfone 12 Ultra is worth considering because there is nothing bad about it, but it doesn't really shine compared to its predecessor either.

ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra review: I really like this phone, but you shouldn't buy it

The Zenfone 12 Ultra is one of the best phones I used in 2025. There's just one problem — I don't think you should buy it. The Zenfone 12 Ultra is great at a lot of things, but it doesn't do enough to justify its asking price.

ASUS bets big on AI to sell you on its new Zenfone 12 Ultra, but that extra effort means not much else has changed.
