Acer Liquid S1 review

Phabl-adabadoo?

Acer lets Android breathe ; Float UI is cool

Low battery ; No LTE

The Liquid S1 needs to be well priced, as it's up against the Galaxy Note 3. If big screens are your thing, the Float features of the Liquid S1 nicely make the most of the phone's 5.7-inch display, making for a reasonable, if unremarkable, phone.

If you have wanted to dip your toe in the phablet waters before now, but have found the options available just that bit too rich the compromises the Acer S1 has made to reach its £200 price point are small enough that it becomes worth a look.

Acer Liquid S1 – Review

The Acer Liquid S1 is a great big phone with a reasonable spec and a reasonable price. Especially for the Dual SIM version (about £269). You get a lot of features that all work well. But there are a few negatives though.

The MediaTek chip used in the Acer S1 is well known to have GPS issues. Because of that it just basically doesn’t work. Here is a GPS test app attempting to get a fix. The Acer Liquid S1 is a great big phone with a reasonable spec and a reasonable...

Acer Liquid S1 phablet - Initial Impressions

The current generation of Acer devices are pretty impressive, at the top of the pile is the "S" range, which is the flagship device range. The Liquid S1 phablet is a great big thing with a 5.

As this was just my initial impressions please let me know if you have any questions or things you want testing out and I’ll do my best to oblige.

Acer Liquid S1 review

Taiwanese manufacturer Acer may not be the hippest name on thesmartphone block but if it keeps producing decent-quality,budget-priced handsets like the Liquid S1, it could be.

Large screen, decent camera, good battery life, sensibleprice

Cheap casing, not the fastest

The Acer Liquid S1 is quite a handful but it has an excellent HDscreen and a pretty good camera too. With the latest flavour ofAndroid and plenty of free online storage available via AcerCloud,it offers a credible alternative to the big names.

Acer Liquid S1 hands-on review

We take a closer look at Acer's first phablet device

Acer has given the Liquid S1 8GB of internal memory, which can be upgraded to 32GB via microSD - despite the slot being so well concealed we couldn't find it. It must be embedded next to the SIM slot internally, which were unable to open up due to the...

Liquid gold? We had the opportunity to test out a pre-series mode

Chic design; Good manufacturing quality; Bright display; Low energy consumption; Good performance scores

Little internal storage space; (Currently) poorly tuned monitor; (Currently) somewhat ramshackle back cover; Short battery life; Bad camera
