An affordable but brilliant 4K HDR streamer
Affordable price tag ; 4K HDR (and HDR10+) streaming ; Comes with a Bluetooth remote ; Roku OS is easy to use
No Dolby Vision support ; Limited wireless range ; Short HDMI cable ; Roku OS is a bit boring

Roku's latest media streaming device might be tiny, but inside where it counts, the Express 4K+ is a powerhouse with 4K, HDR, AirPlay, and voice control.

For the cost of the monthly subscription to a handful of streaming services, the new Roku Express 4K+ makes a strong platform play for being your set-top box of choice. As always, Roku's pitc…
$39.99 price is aggressive ; Voice remote has TV control buttons and is easy to use ; Roku OS 10 is clean and straightforward ; New WiFi and processor make things speedy ; HDR10+ support
No Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos ; The big streaming apps don't support Roku's latest features ; Search seems a little less smart than on rival boxes

No Dolby Vision support ; Roku's voice assistant remains weaker than rivals from Amazon, Apple and Google. ; No Dolby Vision support ; Roku's voice assistant remains weaker than rivals from Amazon, Apple and Google.

At $40, Roku's new 4K streamer undercuts the competition without major compromises.
4K HDR streamer with snappy performance and capable remote ; Full of nice little touches like private listening and closed-caption replay ; Adds AirPlay to any TV for cheap
Wi-Fi performance could be better ; No unified streaming guide to browse through ; Carriage dispute drama persists
App drama aside, the Roku Express 4K+ is Roku's most compelling new device in years. Its superior remote makes it a better buy than the $30 Roku Express even without a 4K TV, and it renders the $50 Roku Streaming Stick+ unnecessary unless you need its...

The Roku Express 4K Plus is a solid upgrade from the Roku Premiere, especially in its remote.
Cheap 4K streaming ; Speedy performance ; Improved remote
No Dolby Vision or Atmos Audio ; Still a bit too lightweight
That said, the Roku Express 4K Plus attacks its competition at the checkout counter, and does so well. Sure, it has some tradeoffs in exchange for that lower price, but they won't most streaming experiences.
