Roku isn't quite a household name in the UK, but you shouldn't count this US-based company out. It's well deserving of a place under your TV.
The Roku 3 is my favourite way to watch TV and, pending a miracle, will remain so until I can get my scone-fondling British mitts on a Roku 4.

A small box that's big on features
Speedy operation An extensive features list Remote control
USB-file compatibility could be better
We are very happy with the Roku 3. It is pricey compared with rivals, but its list of features is impressive, and leaves the similarly priced Apple TV far behind. Factor in the super-slick operational speeds and Roku is on to a winner. MORE: Best...

There's stiff competition in the set-top box world. The new Roku 3 is certainly a top-of-the-line streamer, but the Roku 2 is just as cool and even more affordable. Sure, the cheaper model doesn't have the voice search-enabled microphone or dedicated...
Content is treated equally, voice search remote works well across available services, supports screen mirroring, the Roku app has voice search too
The voice search remote is the only new thing, Roku 2 is cheaper and has voice search through Roku app, no HDMI cable included in the box
The new Roku 3 is certainly a top-of-the-line streamer, but the Roku 2 is just as cool and even more affordable. Sure, the cheaper model doesn't have the voice search-enabled microphone or dedicated listening via the remote's headphone socket, though...

The Roku 3 media streamer has excellent features and a wealth of content on offer - and now it's even better.
The Roku 3 is a premium player with a superior feature set to rivals. The headphones socket in the remote is a boon and the UK content selection is superb, although we experienced lip-sync issues and network media playback is too unreliable.

Do you want an easy way to get iPlayer and Netflix on your TV? If so, you might want to consider the Roku 3 -- the top of the range model in Roku's new collection of tiny Internet set-top boxes that bring online video on-demand services to your TV.
Easy to set up and use; Supports Netflix and iPlayer; Headphone jack integrated into remote control; Angry Birds Space game is fun to play with the motion sensing remote.
Weak local network media streaming support; Poor USB play-back features; Doesn't have apps for Lovefilm, 4oD or ITV player.
The Roku 3 is quick and easy to use for accessing online video services but it's pricey. It's also disappointing that it lacks support for key movie and catch up TV services including 4oD and Lovefilm.

The Roku 3 is, rather confusingly, an update of the previous Roku model, also called the Roku 3. So what's the difference? Not much, honestly, although there is now a dedicated audio search function via the remote. Are the changes enough to justify...

The thing that enticed me to look at Roku 3 was its ability to stream sound so that you can have no sound from your TV and still hear sound through the ROKU 3 unit to headphones or earbuds, ideal for those who don't want to disturb others.
I have not seen either the Roku 1 or Roku 2 which I understand are still available. You will need to purchase an HDMI cable to connect the small 8x8x2.5cm box to a port on you TV. It comes with a small power brick – 1.5metre lead – that also connects...

The Roku 3 has been available Stateside for some time now, the little black box that could has only just made its way across the pond. For a penny shy of £100, this tiny media streamer aims to solve your web TV woes once and for all, providing a one...
Put simply, the Roku 3 is the finest media streamer on the market right now. It’s small, powerful, does almost everything, and its only real downside is its lack of AirPlay support. If you don’t live in a house filled with Macs and iPhones though, and...

Media streaming is now a mainstream thing; you've only got to look at figures behind the BIGGEST shows in recent years, like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, to see that most of the time, people are streaming this content on demand rather than...
450 channels means you’ll never hurt for content. Remote doubles as game controller. Improved UI.
HDMI cable is not included. Needs to support more file formats. Though the remote offers a ton of features, it looks cheap.
If you’re a PC user, the Roku 3 is the best set top streaming box you can buy. However, if you’re a Mac user, I would still say you should opt for the Apple TV over the Roku 3. The Apple TV is too tightly integrated into the OS X and iOS ecosystem to...
