Now TV box

A tiny box that gets your TV online for £10.

The Now TV box is primarily a way to get more people hooked on Sky's on demand movie service. But as it also gets you access to iPlayer, 5 Demand and a bunch of (less essential) streaming services for £10, it's one of the tech bargains of the year.

NOW TV box review

Whether it's movies, sport or TV shows, Sky's got an enticing package…

Bargain price ; Simple to use and set up ; Option for wired connection ; Supports other catch-up services

No other paid-for services supported ; Very much a cut-down Roku ; Unusable USD and microSD portsTV

The NOW TV Box is a great little device, offering a simple, mostly cost-effective way of getting Sky content into your home without you having to sign a pact with the devil.

Now TV box (2015) review: a li’l box with a lot going for it

Unashamedly a Sky box for the no-frills budget crowd, but what it does it does very well indeed

Great price ; Easy access ; Non-contract

No Full HD TV streams ; No other pay-TV allowed

Sky Now TV Box review

Still a great, affordable way into smart TV, but the Now TV Box is outgunned by the competition

Low price iPlayer and catch-up apps for free Spotify and PPV Sky Movies and Sky Sports Easy to use

No remote app No Sky HD content Video only goes up to 720p Limited app offering

But despite all this, we still have a soft spot for this miniature hero. It is still a decent, smart offering for people with older TVs, and that price has yet to be beaten. Even after a year-and-a-half, Sky still offers great value for money. MORE:...

Now TV box review

Sky has launched a set-top box that allows you to turn any crusty old television with an HDMI socket into something capable of getting movies, sports and BBC iPlayer. All via the internet, all for a tenner. It can't be that easy can it? If you haven't...

Cheap, small, easy to use, good movie choice, BBC iPlayer available

SD streams for movies, Roku has removed Netflix and Plex from Roku Channel store

If you haven’t got a Smart TV and are looking to add movies or more likely the BBC iPlayer to it, this is the best way on the market to do it, especially considering the price of the Now TV box.

Now TV box review

If you've been looking for a cost-effective way of adding Internet TV, be it catch-up or Video on Demand, to a non-connected telly, then Sky's new £9.99 Now TV box must seem heaven sent.

Astonishingly cheap, well-made, good selection of streaming TV services, great image quality

No 5.1 audio from Now TV content, No YouTube

Sky Now TV Box review

The Roku Channel Store is available, but Sky appears to have put the kybosh on some commercial rivals. The most notable absentee is Netflix, and there's no Plex channel for streaming content from other PCs (although a quick YouTube search will reveal...

A perfectly capable media streamer, with dedicated remote control, for only £10 may look an indisputable bargain. It's light on features and obviously geared towards Sky's content, but if you want an inexpensive, fuss-free way of watching the...

Now TV Box (2015) review

Two years ago, Sky caused a splash with its teeny, tiny affordable Now TV Box that cost a mere £10 and could stream plenty of digital goods into your home. It's now got a sequel with this year's Now TV Box that costs £5 more, but looks slicker, sleeker...

For £15, you get a lot of bang for your buck. This year's Now TV Box looks like a rebadged Roku 3, right down to the menus and remote, but with a Sky tinge to almost everything - that's not a bad thing at all. The Roku 3 it's based on is one of the...

As it's Sky's own little box, it's largely boasting about it's own Now TV services, so you won't find the likes of Netflix or Amazon Prime Instant Video here, which is a shame if you're a fan of either services and you're wanting to keep one small box...

The original Now TV Box was already a steal, and this year's version is even better, with improved performance, stylish looks and it's pretty much future proof. It's a steal if you like to tinker around with sideloading apps, but while it does lack the...

Now TV Box

The Now TV Box from Sky just dropped like a bombshell on the smart TV landscape. It's not trying to create yet another standard platform for developers, or throwing in crazy new features to make searching for shows online easier. It's just a tiny...

The Now TV Box is not as smart as its rivals, and it suffers from its inability to connect to rivals like Netflix and Lovefilm. If you’ve got a games console or a smart TV, or can stretch £40 more for a full powered Roku, you should go with them for...
