The smaller cousin of the 2200 is surprisingly more interesting than you'd expect, although it's still somewhat eclipsed by the streaming capabilities of other units.
Very small form factor ; Decent range of file support ; 802.11n wireless ; Simple installation
Windows Vista only ; An Xbox 360 might be a better, but noisier, bet
The 2100's performance was essentially identical to the 2200 in our tests — and as mentioned above, we ran the two side by side to make sure of the fact. While it lacks the upscaling DVD component of the 2200, we can't imagine there are too many...

Products such as Linksys DMA "media centre extenders" are the missing link between your PC and home-theatre.
Linksys has done its homework to make the set-up process aspainless as we've seen in a media centre add-on. Once things are upand running, the box performs exceptionally well, handling mostcommon music and video formats including the internet...

Introduction Have you built or thinking about building a home theater PC but don't want to put the computer next to your TV?If so, today's review might be of interest to you; Geeks.com, popular online retailers, sent us a Linksys Wireless Media Center...
Easy installation ; Sleek design with easy to use front panel ; Solid audio/video quality ; Component video output
Does not play or stream DVD video ; Not compatible with Windows Vista ; Remote missing some functions
The Linksys Wireless Windows Media Center Extender is simply a must-have product for those running Windows Media Center 2005 and wishing to display video remotely on a TV. If you're thinking about setting up a HTPC but don't want to have a computer...

it may have been a defective unit - they were being unloaded at $110 albeit from a reputable source. i know the problem is with the DMA2100, and must send it back.
i truly wanted this to work, because the notion ob being able to wirelessly stream stuff from my computer leveraging mediua center was quite exciting. with HDTV resolution to boot.
unfortunately the wireless setup did not work out of the box. i should note i have a Linksys WRT610N wireless router that has never shown any compatibiity with any piece of equipment, ever. i took the DMA2100 to where i could connect it using the...

Ill probably be buying another one for the rec room in the basement.
Works just as described. Using it to extend the Media Center Capabilities and Data from our VMCPC and Home Server to the living room. Started off wireless but noticed some glitching while watching backed up DVDs. Now hardwired Cat 5e and it works...
I only gave a 4 due to a little lag in response from when you hit a button on the remote to when the extender responds. Not bad but worth mentioning thatit can get a little annoying.

I'm sure newegg will remove this review promptly for being honest.
Works great. Compatible with windows 7.
Ridiculous price. I'm not sure how newegg justifies doubling the price of this. Perplexing considering newegg usually has the best prices.

Draws a fair amount of resources from the PC when pulling media from the HDD. For me, this is important because I'm using an older PC that's been upgraded to Vista. I find that when the MCE is running from the library, the PC is pretty much useless....
Displays my music library with album art, flawlessly streams audio & SD video across my 802.11g network from the external USB HDD on my wired PC (network optimizer says I'm JUST shy of HD bandwidth). Provides good control over picture libraries, and...
A little rocky getting it set up -- took several tries before the device would communicate with WMC. Takes a little while to boot up from a powered down state.

that dma2100 is very smal and work fine with cable. Wireless is too slow to use mediacenter from pc
the price. I pay on neweggs site 115$ CAN for that. Now the price is crazy

Be aware that you won't have access to a Vista 'DVD-library' -- everything else (recorded TV, music, live TV, internet radio, etc) works great.
Work great when hard-wired. Easy to set up.
Wireless far to klugey to tolerate, even using the recommended router (Linksys WRT610N Dual-N).

Buy it while you can.
Good deal.
Signal Strength issues. Solved this when I relocated my router. Gotta love it!!
