LaCie LaCinema Premier

Plays back raw ISO files ripped from DVD, complete with Dolby Digital soundtrack and menus; plays most DivX and Xvid files; large capacity; solid connectivity with component-video and both optical and coaxial digital audio outputs; compatible with...

Clunky folder-based file system makes large collections a hassle to navigate; some stutter and incompatibility playing back VOB video files; soft video quality compared to original DVDs, photos; file sizes limited to 4GB or less for Mac users; no HDMI...

Although a cumbersome interface hampers the LaCie LaCinema Premier's usability as a music and photo server, its ability to play back files ripped from DVDs is pretty appealing.

LaCie LaCinema Premier

Easy to use. Relatively quick. One of the cheapest and largest-capacity streaming devices.

Boring design. Limited connections. Some fiddly interface problems. Photos in portrait mode look poor.

The LaCie LaCinema Premier is a relatively quick and easy-to-use media streamer and external drive that won't burn holes in your coin pocket.
