Video Review: Argosy HV675 MediaPlay

Short Version: The HV675 walks the line between ease of use and speed when it comes to getting video content from your computer onto your TV. There's no complicated networking to set up, no CDs or DVDs to burn, and most readily-available file formats...

I Love This Black Box!

Just neat!

First, Newegg had it to me the next day with regular shipping (I am close to their shipping center) ; This thing is awesome. I can now play the video files on my TV that I used to only watch on my laptop ; Seems to be well made ; I don't understand the...

Support for USB adapters would make it almost perfect. And I see it has a knock out piece of plastic where the LAN connection should be. Is this in the works

Great product from a great company!

First of all, the product works awesome! Could not be happier, I love downloading movies, shows, whatever, and being able to play it on the big screen... I did have an issue in which the unit stopped recognizing any USB device... I contacted Argosy...

Someone mentioned this before, the remote is kinda cr@ppy, but, you really only use it to hit power and play/stop... so, no big deal

Great Device - Terrible Remote

If it just had a Quick Step (~30 seconds forward) and Instant Replay button (~10 seconds back), it would be much easier to deal with.

While a few exceptions have been noted in other reviews, the device has played every file format I've thrown at it with ease. It's also very easy to hook up, and you can use any sort of thumb drive, flash drive, or external hard drive you so choose

I would give the thing 5 stars for the stuff I said in the "Pros" section, but then I have to factor in the remote control, which I give 0 stars. You have to use the remote to work the device and remote is horrible. It you fast-forward or rewind, you...

Great Device\Tech Support

From my experience, a powered external hard drive should be used. 2.5 external and flash drives with out external power may cause problems, due to (in my opinion) forcing the media player to provide the power to the drive. If you have a library of...

Small, well built, well programed, easy to use and setup. This thing is pretty cool ; Argosy's tech support makes up for every bad tech support experience I have ever had! shortly after I setup the unit I believed that it was malfunctioning. I setup an...

These aren't really cons more opinions, as they could be considered Pro's ; The unit is small and light. You will have to secure it to the surface where it will be installed (Velcro) or else it will end up dangling behind your TV ; The remote is very...

Great

I bought this here - open box - for $48.00. Best money I ever spent! I had my PC connected to my SD TV to play back movies - nothing but trouble. I connected this device to a small passport external HD and transfered my video collection. FANTASTIC! Now...

No major issues. I wish you could "zoom" on letterbox video files (but some TV's can do that). It does get warm. You do have to go into standby to swap out HD - but the unit starts back up in about 10 sec or less. The instruction manual that comes with...

Awesome

Appears to use same decoding chipset for decoding as INOI hard drives, that has worked great for me so far.

Plays most avi and mpeg files without issue. Lightweight and portable. No moving parts

Very warm to the touch

Very Good Device!

I elected to choose this over the other Argosy devices that have built-in HDDs because this device also supported flash drives. As to the HDD, I use a WD Passport 320GB, which only needs to be powered by USB. On the go I carry this in a small napsack....

This device will play everything that it says it will. It may not support HD media, but it surely upscales to it in good quality. The remote is good, as well the interface ; Also, the device itself is small

The Component out control in the menu controls all video output except HDMI. Therefore, if you have that set at anything but SD interlace, the composite video is inoperable, so this should only be changed when using component with EDTV or HDTV, and if...
