Apple TV 160GB

Sleek, sexy and now with loads of content, the Apple TV is a genuine must-have for iTunes users

A genuine joy to use; vast array of great-quality downloadable content available on-demand; excellent sonic performance

Store downloads aren?t cheap; limited to iTunes-friendly file formats

Apple TV

During his keynote speech at Macworld in January 07, Steve Jobs announced two new products. The iPhone may not be perfect yet. The other, Apple TV, is a limited device that's, as of yet, unsuited to the UK. Disappointing ...

Connects your Mac to your TV, Beautiful menu system, Connect up to five Macs

Only works with expensive televisions, Video format options are limiting, We still can't buy movies or TV shows

A good idea ruined by limited compatibility and a lack of UK focus

Apple iTunes TV review

Leaving aside all the music you can buy from the iTunes Store, an increasing amount of TV content can be accessed from this entertainment portal.

It works with Apple's customary ease of use, the quality is good and the selection of programmes extensive, but we're not convinced of the economics of paying nearly £2 an episode, when there are free alternatives.

An iPod for your TV, Apple's wireless streamer builds the perfect bridge between your iTunes library and telly

Easy to set up. Slick interface. No fan noise. 40GB hard drive

Limited video format support. HDMI cable not included. No iTunes movie downloads yet

Apple TV

Up to now the story of the media-streaming device hasn't exactly made pleasant reading for its participants. Most previous versions of these devices (which take music, video and photos from your PC and play them on your TV and stereo), have been...

Apple TV is a nice concept and, in some ways, it’s capably executed - it’s the first media-streaming device we could imagine less technical users enjoying. Unfortunately, far more attention needs to be directed towards its UK features. It won’t work...

UK exclusive: Apple TV

With a 40GB hard drive, Apple's TV looks good and works well, straight out of the box. The Apple TV copies video, music and photos from your computer's iTunes collection and plays them on your TV.

Apple TV (2007) review

Editors' Note (October 1, 2010): This old version of the Apple TV has been replaced with a smaller $99 Apple TV that adds Netflix compatibility.

Provides access to iTunes-based movie rentals, TV shows, music, photos, and podcasts, as well as YouTube videos on your living room TV; streams media from networked Mac or Windows PCs; purchases and rentals can be done directly through iTunes Store on...

No support for Netflix, Pandora, and other major online media services found on most new Blu-ray players; doesn't work with older, non-widescreen TVs; movie rentals must be watched within 24 hour timeframe; no subscription payment options; lackluster...

Apple TV provides a slick venue for iTunes-based media in the living room, but the average Blu-ray player now provides a wider array of online media options.
