Amazon Fire TV (2015) review

Best streaming box, Awards 2016. If at first you don't succeed, try a revamp…

Lightning-fast ; Easy to use ; Improved voice recognition ; MicroSD

Amazon hard-sell still present ; Still no bundled HDMI cable

Amazon is on fire with its second streaming box

Amazon Fire TV review: the best-value 4K streaming box?

With a quicker processor and Ultra HD streaming capabilities, does Amazon's new box do enough to impress?

Easy to set up ; Simple slick interface ; Can do basic 4K

Really needs Prime ; Non-universal search ; Some codec limitations

Amazon Fire TV 4K review: Ultra HD frills for the masses

The Fire TV is Amazon's fastest selling product of all time, both in its original set-top-box and streaming stick forms. It has beaten Kindle and Fire tablets, oh, and the phone of course, although that one has since been swept under the carpet....

Superfast menu system thanks to quad-core processor, 4K Ultra HD video playback, dual-band dual-antenna Wi-Fi, microSD card slot for storage expansion, thousands of shows and movies available

Not that much 4K content is on the platform yet, Ultra HD movies are very expensive, if you haven’t got an Amazon Prime or Prime Instant Video membership you won’t get the most from it

Amazon's second-generation Fire TV box is a real step forward in the media streaming sector and considering the popularity of the first one is bound to be the device chosen by many families up and down the UK as their main living room device.

Amazon Fire TV 4K with Ultra HD review

The Fire TV is a rival to the Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku's media streamers. This second-generation version now supports 4K video, and is one of the first to do so. Should you buy it? Find out in our Amazon Fire TV 4K review.

The Fire TV is an excellent set-top box which is powerful and well designed. The voice search works well too, and Alexa is coming, which will make it far better. The interface is slick and easy to use, even if it can be confusing working out what you...

Amazon Fire TV review: Awesome for Amazon addicts but too pushy for everyone else

This box can deliver 4K video and lets you search with your voice, but its focus on Amazon's own TV shows and movies makes it less desirable if you use Netflix and other apps beyond Prime.

The Amazon Fire TV offers a healthy -- if not quite complete -- selection of UK streaming apps, via a responsive interface. Parental controls and support are top-notch. Voice search from the remote works very well. It's the least expensive external...

Popular apps such as Netflix, iPlayer and others take a back seat to Amazon's own TV shows and movies. The Alexa digital assistant doesn't work in the UK. Search results prioritise Amazon, and often hide results from other providers even if you've...

The 2015 Fire TV is a potent streamer with 4K capability, voice search and a solid selection of UK apps, but it tries too hard to serve up Amazon's own TV shows and movies.

Amazon Fire TV 4K (2015 edition): Review – in depth

Amazon Fire TV 4K (2015 edition) Review: We take a look at Amazon's new Fire TV box, which blasts 4K Ultra HD streaming content into your living room.

Excellent user interface ; Powerful search and recommendations tools ; Almost every 4K service available in one place

Search and X-ray limited to Amazon services

4K content on the new Fire TV box positively shimmers. It does everything that the other Fire TV devices already do and while there’s something of a trickle of 4K content available now, what is there is nice enough for the time being and we’re...

Amazon Fire TV (2015) review

Streaming heats up with Amazon's revamped wünderbox

Easy to use ; Good AV performance ; 4K! ; Power and speed

Amazon platform could be more open

With 4K, greater speed and a lot more power, Amazon’s second box is very hot stuff.

Amazon Fire TV with 4K review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Fire TV Stick may get all the attention, but there's actually another internet TV box in Amazon's armoury. The Amazon Fire TV with 4K, as the name so clearly suggests, offers ultra-high definition streaming through an Alexa-enabled dongle with all...

Amazon Fire TV (2015) review: The streamer your 4K TV has been waiting for

Amazon adds 4K support to its flagship TV streamer, but you still need Prime membership to make the most of it

All in all, the Amazon Fire TV provides a refined, slick media-streaming experience. The presence of half-decent parental controls makes it a good choice for families, too, since you can restrict children from accessing apps, games, photos and music...

Amazon Fire TV with 4K (2015) review

Last year's Amazon's Fire TV streaming puck was a solid streaming effort from the etailer, giving you solid hardware, decent voice control tricks and a comfortable remote, but it didn't quite stand out from the pack. This year's version pack in 4K...

Amazon’s Fire TV didn’t quite set the world on fire, launching into a crowded market, along with its junior Fire TV Stick proving a better buy, but this year’s version looks to be the pivotal step for the etailer’s streaming box. It looks largely the...

Strangely, even though it looks identical to its predecessor, it does lack an optical audio output, meaning you can't hook it up directly to your receiver or soundbar with a single cable. While not a huge problem for most people, for audio purists, it...

At £79, this year's Fire TV is the same price as last year's addition, and along with 4K support on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, it's also faster, voice control is better and you can boost its onboard storage too. The first edition of the Fire TV...
