AC Ryan PlayOn!HD Essential review

Out of the box, this is a non-networked version of AC Ryan's PlayOn!HD media streamer, but you can add an optional £20 wi-fi dongle to change that. My sample came with a pre-installed 1TB HDD and there are 500GB and 2TB versions.

AC Ryan Playon!HD Essential Review

Dutch based A.C. Ryan have been receiving critical acclaim recently for their series of Playon!HD media devices. We have reviewed their full range so far on KitGuru and today we look at their latest edition, the Playon! HD Essential.

AC Ryan Playon!HD Essential

The Playon!HD Essential has great codec support, but falls flat on the critical issue of streaming from network media sources.

Slick user interface ; Good range of codec support ; 1TB on-board storage

No Ethernet support ; Wi-Fi is an added extra ; Squishy cheap remote control
