Perfect for all-purpose underwater photography: Attached to an APS-C sensor format SLR it works as a 50mm lens, which allows shooting medium sized subjects, something difficult with other lenses. Sturdy and fast is a very good choice.

A bit too heavy. In macro mode (underwater use) it forces you to get too close to subject and, deppending on the housing, it will not reach the 1:1 factor.

Tokina AF 35mm f/2.8 AT-X M35 PRO DX Macro Lens (Canon Mount)

Even this is a small sensor lens, it works wery good with slightly bigger EOS 1D APS-H sensor. About -1ev vignetting with F/2.8, in F/4 flawless. Very usefull angle of view with 1:1 ratio macro. One of best "walk around" lens and good build quality.

If you are familiar with USM/HSM, focus in this item feels slow. But... "its not a bug, its a feature". Focus is "macro like", slow, but reliable.

Small and neat, minimum focus distance is close, so its excellent for use underwater.

The switch from AF to manual focus was confusing at first.

This is my first Macro lense and for the price I found it produces very good quality images and is very easy to use. The focus mechanism is very smooth and precise and you can get the camera as close as an inch from your subject for the best possible...
