Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 XR AF VS Canon 24-70mm 2.8L

I just tested both zooms side by side on the same camera body and I have to say that anyone who thinks the Tamron rates with the Canon must be smoking crack.

Cheap, light, disposable

It's a Coke bottle

Excellent quality lens, reasonably priced!

I purchased this lens a couple of months back having read lots of reviews and looked through literally hundreds of shots others had done with this lens. All I can say is that I have not been disappointed!!!!I was unhappy with the quality of the EF-S...

Constant f2.8 Pin sharp. Good build quality. Lens hood supplied

Slight yellow cast / warmer tones. (Easily correct with white balance / levels)

Good Lens for this money

I owe this lens almost for a year.

Best lens in this focal length at any price

As a professional Fashion/Beauty and Advertising photographer of over twenty years, my demands for optical excellence are quite stringent. I recently used this lens for a fashion editorial shoot and can say that this lens is wonderful. Fast and...

Fast F 2.8. Extremely sharp even wide open. On par with Canon 17-40L

Nice lens at nice price

I was looking for a portrait zoom for my Canon 300D. Standard zooms from 24/28 up to 70/75mm make a nice portrait lens on 300D (with 1.6 crop factor).

small (weight), small (67mm filter size), longer range (75mm), well built, hood included

not USM (AF is not loud, but noisier than USM), back lens cap

Held up wonderfully against the 24-70L test-off

I spent 2 hours in my camera shop testing and comparing this lens with the Canon 24-70L. I honestly expected the Canon to be much better in all areas. I was surprised to discover that the Tamron held it's own in the areas that I personally consider to...

Sharpness, AF speed and accuracy, price (I'd probably have paid more)

AF focus whirr and I wish it was metal

Excellent in all areas!

I purchased this lens for my Canon Digital Rebel. I have nothing but great things to say about this lens, and if you are considering it for purchase, I would definitely recommend it.

Weight, price, picture quality, size

Gold lettering on lens doesn't appear very flattering, but that doesn't impact

Don't want to dump a grand on Nikon's 2.8zoom... Tamron has a great alternative

The Tamron 28-75 XR AF is one of my favorite lenses. It's hard to beat the quality, speed and price compared to any other lens. Maybe my 50mm 1.4 is better, but not by much.

Inexpensive, 2.8 aperature, quick focus, zoom lock, a good product overall

Body could be constructed tougher, could be sharper, sunshield is made of really weak

Excellent Optics at Bargain price

I purchased this lens for my Canon 10D camera after looking at a number of other options including the Canon 28-135 ISM (~$400), the Canon 24-85 (~$300), and the Canon 24-70L (~$1200). The reviews on the Tamron lens were great, and the price was...
