Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DG Macro test

Good focal range; Compact and lightweight to carry; Excellent performance through the range; Cracking value for money

Distrotion just evident

REVIEW: Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DG Macro

This lens is nicely compact for it's capabilities although it does extend somewhat as you zoom to the long end of the range. The extension, achieved by a double trombone, comes out some 52mm. It does so with quite a smooth action though and the second...

CA around the edges at the wider end; Distrotion just evident

If you need a general purpose lens to carry on your camera, and use the long end as much as the wide, then this offering is well worth a look. The excellent resolution figures achieved through the middle to the long end are a pleasant surprise and make...

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DL Aspherical Macro & 17-35mm f/2.8-f/4 EX

While a "fast" zoom lens like the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens

Lots of verbiage about lens comparisons, most of which neglect the primary issue - does the lens deliver, consistently, a clear, sharp image. This lens certainly does - through Europe, Asia, USA, S.A. A marvel of optical engineering. I compared this...

Sharp, light, responsive

Manual focus - need to adjust eye for the split image

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 DG Macro review by eyrieowl

This was my first lens for my Nikon d50. Which was my first true digital camera (other than 3mp point-and-shoot i'd gotten with my printer). prior to that, i'd been shooting on a venerable Canon AE-1. I had a cheapie 28-210 zoom on that body (no, I...

wide range, relatively compact, macro functionality, price

slow, not very sharp, doesn't go wide-enough on aps sensor, color cast

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro review by trentdp

I actually owned an older version of this lens under the Quantary brand from Ritz Camera. I originally bought it for use on my Nikon N60 but was never really excited by the pictures. I used it again during July 2006 on my D70 while on vacation and...

Cheap price for long zoom

Just so-so performance

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro review by awalker

It's a good travel lens for a FF film EOS (the reason I bought it) and it's just about OK with a 20D if you need the FL range and can only carry one lens. Wouldn't pay more than $120 these days, though, and there are better lenses out there.

Price, build quality

Noisy AF, image quality

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro review by nspur

This is the latest incarnation of Sigma's popular 7x zoom for film cameras (and full frame digital too, perhaps). It's a "twin" of the well-thought-of 18-125 for DX digital cameras and has much the same characteristics.

A nice little travel lens, better than you might think

Flare at w/a, auto-focus a little tricky

Sigma 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 Aspherical IF Macro review by Allan

I'm new to dSLR so you have to take my review with a grain of salt. I wanted a cheap lens to play with, and for under $100 on ebay (new) I don't think I could have done better than this lens. Outside, with plenty of light, this lens performs well; it...

Light, cheap

Stiff zoon ring, poor low light focus
