Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR ED

In August 2006 Nikon launched a new reflex camera, marked by the D80 symbol. This premiere was accompanied by the launching of the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, which became a universal “kit” lens for the D80 camera. Two years later, the...

simply sensational frame center picture quality ; very good frame edge picture quality ; coma under a sensible control ; very low astigmatism ; autofocus accurate, silent and quite efficient ; effective picture stabilization ; taking into account the...

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED VR

The number of mega zoom class lenses on the market is growing steadily. The lenses themselves - together with APS-C/DX detector digital DSLR cameras - are meant to be quite long telephoto lenses and give a wide angle view. All the lenses with a 18 mm...

very universal focal length range enriched with picture stabilization, which makes the 200 mm focal length very effective ; solid construction ; very good picture quality in the center of the frame ; good picture quality in the corners of the frame at...

weak picture quality in the edges of the frame at 200 mm focal length ; poor performance of manual sharpness adjustment ; clearly visible coma ; high vignetting ; large distortion

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-135 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF

The Holy Grail of lens designers is a universal lens of great picture quality at all focal length ranges, yet which is still affordable for the average consumer.

great picture quality for the center of the frame and for the whole focal length range ; low chromatic aberration for 35 to 85 mm ; well corrected astigmatism ; quiet and efficient autofocus ; universality in a small size ; reasonable price

poor picture quality for 35-50 mm and 135 mm at the edges of the frame ; visible chromatic aberration at the ends of the focal length range ; large geometric distortion for the whole focal length range ; huge vignetting at 18 mm and 135 mm ; poor...

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED VR

The optics is not particulary amazing but its good lens for general use particularly good for travelling and photos that don't require super sharpness. Better that the average superzoom lens but not as good as some of the most recent models.

Superzoom lens+ relatively compact+ well balanced with D7xxx bodies

The fast zoom of the lens works like a air pump, making the lens very prominent to suck dust to the inside.- big pieces of dust in the internal focus lenses and lens close to the aperture can be visible starting F/11;- The internal construction is very...

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR ED

Great value lens that is exceptional value for the price when you consider the focal range and image quality. It is not a lens you could abuse due build but that should not be an issue for most

Great range. Fast quiet autofocus. Image quality excellent in everyday use- i have not used charts or experiment shots

Platic Mount. f5.6 @ long end

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR ED

I bought this for my home camera walk-around use. I also use it professionally for studio portraits and outdoor events. My work lens is the great Nikon 24-70 f/2.8, a lens by which I can justifiably compare all other lenses. The 18-105 is much nicer to...

Much better image quality than you would expect from a lens with plastic mount. Much better. Everything about it is pretty good except for the mount. Sharp. Very useful zoom range from wide angle coverage to moderate telephoto. Polycarbonate is both...

Requires cautious handling because of its plastic mount flanges. My 55-200 f/4-5.6 (admittedly, a fairly awful lens) with plastic mount broke when my closed camera bag fell off the desk while the lens was mounted on the camera. Fragile

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR ED

I avoided kit lenses from reading comments on the internet, this lead to annoying others by having to change lens a lot and having to move position all the time in this focal range. So I bought this cheaper lens for when I did not care and the others...

It is a light, versatile lens that can give very sharp images. Value for money is super

The lens has optical disadvantages at the extremes of its range (see real testing results for this). It does feel cheap with the plastic and the focus ring (I do focus manually regularly) does not feel professional
