Nikkor AF 24mm f/2.8 D (FX) - Review / Test Report

The Nikkor AF-D 24mm f/2.8 shows good sharpness in the center wide open with rather soft borders. Stopped down to f/8 however the sharpness is on a very high level across the whole FX image.

After the launch of cameras equipped with APS-C/DX class sensors, it got rather quiet around 24 mm devices. Perhaps the silence was a bit undeserved. On full frame such instruments provide a quite wide angle of view, equal of as many as 84 degrees....

very good image quality in the frame centre ; well-corrected astigmatism ; no reservations concerning the work of autofocus ; compact and solid barrel

weak image quality on the edge of the frame ; visible chromatic aberration ; high coma

Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor Review

Optically, the lens holds its own, despite showing some signs of age: wide open it shows some corner softness, and chromatic aberration is a problem for Nikon bodies which don't automatically remove it.

Much better on average than pro zooms. It is a match in normal use against Zeiss ZF 25/28, visible differences in the Leica M world.Good lens in action.
