Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

The Nikon company is undoubtedly leading the way when it comes to general-purpose lenses designed for reflex cameras with APS-C/DX sensors. They have been launching devices with focal lengths starting from 18 mm and ending at several dozen or even...

useful focal range ; very good resolution in the frame centre ; slight longitudinal chromatic aberration ; well-corrected spherical aberration ; low astigmatism ; silent, accurate and fast autofocus ; excellent stabilization

significant lateral chromatic aberration at the longest focal length ; barrel distortion at wide angle and noticeable pincushion at the longer end of focal range ; lack of any accessories in the box

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens shows a lot of distortion, but Nikon cameras can correct that.

Sharp through most of range. 7.8x zoom range. Optically stabilized. Fairly compact.

Loads of distortion. Edge performance could be better. Hood not included.

The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR increases the zoom range of its predecessor, but it sacrifices some sharpness at its maximum aperture and comes with a bit more distortion. The former can be alleviated by narrowing the aperture when...

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Review

A consumer lens with a zoom ratio of almost 8:1 is never going to be as good in the optical department as primes or short-range professional zooms, and the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR certainly doesn't challenge that paradigm. That...

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

I really like this lens. It came with my D7000, and I love the all-inclusive zoom range. I did some tests at home with a sharpness chart and was surprised to find that it's actually superior to the DX 35mm f/1.8G prime! It's both sharper and has much...

Very sharp across the zoom range, Very useful zoom range. VR is very effective

Not sure, except my autofocus may need a bit of fine tuning

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

Great value lens that performs very decently. The ideal one lens solution for holidays !

Sharp for a zoom and much better than the 16-85. Very useful focal range on a DX camera. Ideal walkabout lens

No focus distance scale

I've just bought it. I'm upset. I expected much more from Nikon. The single advantage of that lens is the resolution. But it's not ectraordinary resolution. It's simply normal, like all other lenses of this type have.As for distortion, colour...

Wonderful Lens

I got this lens with my D5300 camera. 40+ years ago I was into 35mm photography, but I reverted to point-and-shoot cameras over the years. Now that I am retired, I wanted to get back to good photography. This camera and this lens particularly, are...
