REVIEW: Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Zoom Lens

This super-telephoto zoom from Panasonic covers a range equivalent to a 200-600mm lens on a 35mm camera, focuses internally, includes optical image stabilisation and costs around £460.

Good build quality; Good sharpness in the centre at all focal lengths and apertures; Good sharpness towards the edges when stopped down; Lightweight for a lens providing an angle of view equivalent to a 600mm lens on a 35mm camera

Focusing could be faster; Could be sharper towards the edges at maximum aperture

Although £460 may seem a little expensive for a 100-300mm lens, if you think of it in comparison to a 600mm lens for a 35mm camera, it suddenly seems like better value, and should be a popular choice for wildlife shooters who own a Micro-Four Thirds...

Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 100-300mm F4.0-5.6 MEGA O.I.S. Review

The LUMIX G VARIO 100-300mm F4.0-5.6 MEGA O.I.S. is the first super telephoto lens for the Micro Four Thirds system, and at £549.00 / $599.95 it's certainly an affordable one given the massive focal range on offer.

100-300ii

Love this little lens. I had the big Tamron and I could no long handheld it on my dslr. Switched to mirrorless and bought this lens for my wildlife shots. Now I want the 100-400. Can never be too long but this is so handy I hesitate to go bigger. Can't...

I bought a used 100-300 which was a dud. I

This is a great first lens for wildlife photos on a budget!

I have wanted to try bird photography for a while, and wanted to get a lens that had enough range but was not too heavy or too expensive. The 100-300 version ii offered dual stabilization and a reasonable price with acceptable image quality. This lens...

Delighted with early results of sports photography

I bought this at the same time as I purchased my new Lumix G9 with a view to the equipment aiding my (amateur) sports photography: golf and cricket mainly. As I get older I find I experience more camera shake, a big problem when using the 300mm lens on...

Lovely and sharp.

The rubber ring is like glue to dust. All the fun I've had! I must do a comparison with the OLY 75-300 now.

Great Picture Quality ; Simple Controls ; Versatile ; includes: lens hood, and pouch

Bigger than the Olympus, light but still a lump!

Fantastic Lens

Firstly this is a very good lens it takes beautiful photos and video, the construction is very good and the splash and dust proofing is a bonus. The only downside to this lens is the manual focus ring, it is almost unusable because it is very stiff to...

Good Lens Spoilt By Poor MF Implementation

I had the original version of this lens but struggled to get pin sharp images with my GX8. I decided to upgrade to the Mk II to take advantage of the newer Power IS and Dual IS with the GX8. First impressions of the lens were very good, faster auto...
