Although I owned the previous model 90mm f/2.8 R, I traded it in for the later model, now discontinued of course. The later lens meets its claims with ease, furthermore it is lighter and more compact, and allegedly better at closer range than the...
Neat, lightweight, compact, almost pocketable.
None discerible.

I got this lens at Ebay USA for 500 USD !!!! The bargain of my life ! Before this one, I used the M 2.8/90, which is also excellent and a little bit more lightweight. I sold this lens after aquiring the Apo 2/90. This lens is simply outstanding. Crisp,...
Mechanics, perfect optics from f/2 on !
None. The lens is worth every penny (according to the official price)!

Super sharp, super precise mechanics and optics. No need to buy the heavier summicron. This one is perfectly balanced with the M6 and doesn't obstruct the viewfinder. The pics couldn't be better. And this one is very lightweight compared to SLR-lenses...
Superb mechanical and optical quality !
None !

Astonishingly sharp, almost too sharp for portrait work. This lens will mercilessly exaggerate every wrinkle, pore, pockmark, and wayward strand of hair on your subject, and at wider apertures your focal plane had better be dead on because even small...
So sharp you'll need eye protection to look at your negs * Solid build & good heft
Too sharp for glamor work (no kidding) * Price, of course
Consumer review (photographyreview.com)
I'm surprised this lens has not been elevated to 'legendary' status by Leica afficionados. Yet. It scares me how sharp it is; and the color rendition is vibrant. Contrast is right on, not excessive. This lens ranks equal to the new 50mm Summicron-M in...
Superb color, contrast and clarity.
None in my opinion.

Bought alongside a 35mm Summicron and the 50mm Summilux. When I am out and about the 50mm doesn''''t get used so much. I would say a 90mm would be the second lens to buy after the 35mm for outdoor/travel photography.
Relatively compact Rugged Faultless results Good value for money
I wish there was a way of locking the sliding lens hood in its extended position ; I feel you would get better protection from knocks
Consumer review (photographyreview.com)
It is outstanding. I''ve never believed my eyes for what I ''ve seen, ex. with slides. No comparison is possible with other lenses. At full aperture is splendid and so at 5,6. You can not miss it in your stable.
It is an apo and an aspherical, what''s more?
The price, of course. But quality has its own price.

If you travel with a Leica, then this should be in your bag. It is a great lens to get in tight with people and feels better balanced, while being lighter than the 75/1.4. Soft background at 2.0 with great bokeh, sharpness and saturation. Sharpness is...
Sharpness, color saturation
None

This is a lens without peer, a lens that sets the standard for all other medium telephotos. I know of no other lens in this range that can compete with the APO at f2.0, and f2.8. When you factor in the lack of vibration from a M series body, this lens...
Exceptional resolution, colour fidelity, and flatness of field. Nice compact size, resonable weight, and state of the art wide aperture performance. A great shooting combination with any M series body.
Not cheap by any standards.

Very good performance and color balance. Reasonable price(comparable to other leica lens)
Compact, light, easy to use, good color saturation and balance.
none
