Canon EF-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

The Canon company doesn't spoil users of reflex cameras with APS-C sensors – there are few EF-S series lenses designed for such bodies and the new launches are usually the new versions of older plastic models with focal lengths starting from 18 mm or...

excellent image quality in the frame centre at all focal lengths ; decent image quality on the edge of the frame ; low longitudinal chromatic aberration ; lack of problems with spherical aberration ; proper distortion control ; slight coma ; good...

plastic casing and mount ; high vignetting ; weak performance against bright light

Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM is an affordable ultra-wide lens that includes images stabilization and an STM focus motor, both useful for video.

Sharp throughout range. Affordably priced. Ultra-wide angle field of view. Optically stabilized. STM focus motor.

Plastic lens mount. Lots of barrel distortion at 10mm. Some color fringing. Lens hood not included. Narrow aperture.

The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM is a solid performer at a reasonable price point, but it doesn't quite net Editors' Choice accolades. The narrow aperture restricts its use in lower light, although the image stabilization system is a welcome...

Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Review

The in-expensive Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM offers more features and much better image quality that you might expect given its price-point, making it a great ultra-wide-angle addition to a compact, lightweight EOS kit.

Canon EF-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

If you're an amateur and want to enter the world of ultrawide angle, this is the lens for you.

This is surprisingly a very sharp lens. IS is completely silent and makes up for the small aperture. The STM autofocus is fast and silent, you will only hear it if you put your ear on the lens

Noticeable vignetting through the whole zoom range, but specially at 10mm. Considering how narrow is the aperture, you might need to go down to f/8 to get rid of it (or just use peripheral illumination). Unnecessary large 67mm filter thread. Build...

Canon EF-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

The best aps-c ultrawide you can buy at this price, and even spending twice as much for a similar lens the image quality would be the same or worse. I had a Sigma 10-20 and the Canon is a little better and costs less.

Very good image quality, accurate and silent Autofocus, lightweight, inexpensive, stabilization, full time manual focus

Plastic mount, small aperture, lack of distance scale

Canon EF-S 10-18 mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

Great bargain. Highly recommended if you do not plan to move away from APS-C and do not need large aperture to capture motion.

Image quality is excellent, even in the corners where ultrawides often suffer. Build quality is in line with other EF-S STM zooms, which means quite good for a lens in this class. AF is silent and fast, and works very well in video or live view. IS...

The 18mm tele end is a bit too wide, forcing you to swap lenses rather frequently. f/4.5-5.6 is rather slow, especially considering that f/4.5 is only available at 10.0mm. While relatively light and small by ultrawide lens standards, it's still a...
