Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM review

Canon's 70-200mm is relatively slim but still has a constant f/4 maximum aperture

Sharpness across the zoom range ; weather sealing ; autofocus speed

Good but not great for chromatic aberration

The Canon telephoto delivers fabulous image quality through its zoom range, along with the some of the best lab scores for sharpness for a lens of this type.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM

The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens captures impressively sharp images and is optically stabilized. It's a good option for shooters who can't afford an f/2.8 zoom.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM review

A compact telephoto zoom lens from Canon's 'L' series.

Excellent optical quality; Superb build quality; Very effective image stabilisation; Fast to focus; Sealed against weather and dust; Light weight

Sometime miss-focuses near minimum focus distance

Canon EF 70-200 mm f/4L IS USM

In August 2006, just before Canon announced a major new product, the Internet forums for photographic professionals were speculating about exactly what kind of equipment would be introduced. These people were right that the 400D, the predecessor of the...

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS

Canon users were always gifted with a broad range of excellent tele lenses, especially zooms. When the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L hit the market backin 1999 it was another milestone but there was one itch left: wouldn´t itbe nice to have this lens with...

Every now and then EOS, the goddess of mercy, seems to speak to the Canon lens designersand this time they listened carefully. The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 USM L IS may well bethe very best tele zoom on the market today - it is certainly the best Canon...

Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM

Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM review.

Great build quality; Good and consistent performance for price; Silent and quick autofocus

Tripod mount not included in the price

At almost a third of the price of the big brother lens, comparisons are a little unfair. This smaller, lighter, slower version is a very nice lens for the money and produces excellent results. Being that much smaller and lighter, it makes a good...

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens Review

What Digital Camera founds out if this Canon f/4 lens is better designed than the flagship 70-200mm f/2.8L lens.

Overall, the f/4 lens clearly plays second fiddle on paper but it is a very easy lens to carry and to use. Though it is expensive it is only roughly half that of the f/2.8 version, based on Canons SRPs. So there's probably a case for saying Canon has...

REVIEW: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM

Gary Wolstenholme takes a look at how this compact telephoto zoom lens performs.

Excellent optical quality; Superb build quality; Very effective image stabilisation; Fast to focus; Sealed against weather and dust; Light weight

Sometime miss-focuses near minimum focus distance

There is no doubting that this is a fantastic piece of optical engineering. The build quality is excellent, it focuses quickly, the image stabiliser works well and above all it's sharp throughout the zoom range, at least in the centre.

REVIEW: Canon 70-200mm f/4 L USM

This lens is another pipe-like design, being virtually the same diameter throughout its length. It is both narrower and shorter than it's big brother, the f/2.8 IS version and contains far less glass, allowing much easier handling and carrying. First...
