Canon EF 100-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

The two most popular verifocal lenses – and most wanted by photo amateurs – are those with 55-200 mm and 70/100-300 mm parameters. As a result, all manufacturers have been trying to sell a variety of such lenses. The first of the aforementioned groups...

very good picture quality at 100 mm in the center as well as at the edges of the frame ; chromatic aberration almost invisible at 100 mm and below for the 200 mm focal length ; low distortion ; very small coma ; well controlled astigmatism ; very small...

Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

The Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM can probably described as the next quality step up from the el cheapo kit tele zooms but at around 300€/US$ it is also already 50% more expensive than e.g. the EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM.On APS-C DSLRs the field of...

In terms of optical performance the Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM is about in line with other consumer grade tele zoom lenses. The resolution figures are excellent and 100mm but unsurprisingly there's a penaltyat longer focal length specifically at...

Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM Lens

The Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM Lens is a mid-grade long telephoto zoom lens

The Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM Lens provides reasonable optical quality in a wide focal length range with fast Ring USM autofocus for a reasonable price.

Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM Review

While this lens may have been very capable in its day, it's fairly easy to argue that technology has marched on and left this lens in its wake; as a 100-135mm lens it works very well, but it shows soft results with noticeable chromatic aberration at...

Canon EF 75

The EF100-300/5.6L is the only lens in this group which uses fluorite or UD elements (it has one of each) to achieve "apochromatic" status. It's an old lens, introduced very early on in EOS history (1987). It was dropped from the Canon lineup around...

the 100-300/5.6L is a decent lens from an optical standpoint, but the ergonomics leave something to be desired. I don't really know why Canon didn't upgraded it A 100-300/4-5.6L with USM and tripod mount could be a winner for those who need a sharp...

Canon EF 100-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

I really like that lens and the first lens that was good enough to justify an upgrade was the 100-400mm 4.5-5.6L IS USM lens.

metal mount, fast and silent ring USM, FTM, low price looking at used models, better image quality than any 75-300mm lens, nice zoom range

no IS

Canon EF 100-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 USM

Like the other reviewer, I already owned the lens when I got my first digital body (APS-C). I am able to get nice results with the lens shooting at 100mm but tend to be pretty disappointed with the results at longer lengths. As the other reviewer, I...

USM AF is quick.Sharp at 100mm
