It works well but as you will see on any site for long exposure tips these types of filter suffer if pushed to the max Good fit and i have found putting it on top of a cpl helps to prevent the dark bands worth while and great for starting/learning it...

The only reason for 4 instead of5 is paying the Nikon price. But in the past I have purchased 3rd party for such items and found the manufacturing and fit to be less than stellar. Another get what u pay for lesson!

Takes excellent pictures at long distance with very little distortion and good clarity. I rate 4 stars instead of 5 since this lens is heavy and puts a lot of stress on the camera's own lens assembly.

This is effectively nothing more than a deep read filter. It passes far too much of the visible spectrum to be used for infrared photography. If you want a cheap alternative to the Hoya infrared filter then try the Top! or Massa brands.
