Toshiba Satellite U840W

A unique Ultrabook with a cinematic screen that's great for movies or split-screen productivity.

Attractive, innovative design combining metal and rubber ; Cinema screen is great for movies and productivity ; Superb speakers ; Good battery life

Average keyboard with some flex ; Glossy TN-panel display with poor viewing angles

Toshiba Satellite U840 review

Toshiba's U840-10V is a lower priced Ultrabook

Nice price point ; Simple clean design ; Decent processor ; Generous memory

No SSD storage ; Low res screen ; Poor battery life

The Toshiba U840-10V comes in at the lower end of the price scale for Ultrabooks. Available online for around £650 (around AU$998/US$1,034), it beats the price of the likes of the Asus Zenbook UX31 by a couple of hundred pounds, and the likes of the...

Toshiba Satellite U840W Ultrabook

The Toshiba Satellite U840W stands out from the Windows 8 crowd with a screen size all of its own: that panel you see there is a super wide, 21:9 aspect ratio, just like the latest Hollwyood blockbusters. Is this a portable media centre from heaven, or...

While it’s nice to see Toshiba push the boat out with a completely different design, it’s not one that really works. There’s very little you’ll need something so wide for, and the whole affair is far less portable than its Ultrabook name would have you...

Toshiba Satellite U840W (PSU5RA-002001) Ultrabook

Toshiba U840W review: an extra-wide, and very stylish Ultrabook that offers a fantastic multimedia experience

Well built and very stylish ; Provides a great multimedia experience ; Good battery life

Glossy screen ; Keys a little too shallow ; Slow networking

The Toshiba Satellite U840W is designed for multimedia above all else -- it has exceptoinal speakers and its extra-wide screen allows many movies to fit in it perfectly, but it's also very useful for multitasking. We like the build quality and the...

Toshiba Satellite U840 Ultrabook

Toshiba Satellite U840 review: A 14in Ultrabook with 8GB of RAM and a hybrid storage solution

Thin and light ; Decent performer ; USB 3.0, HDMI

Aspects of build could be better ; Screen could be better ; Keyboard could be better ; No Gigabit Ethernet

Toshiba's 14in Ultrabook offers a good mix of light weight, thin design and useful features. It's a good all-round Ultrabook, but it could use a better screen and keyboard, as well as some tweaks to its build quality. It performed decently in our...

Review: Toshiba Satellite U840W

Credit is due to Toshiba for doing something unique with the Satellite U840W, an ultrabook that sports a screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Unique aspect ratio looks weird, but grows on you quickly. Great performance. Ruggedized design makes for easy toting. Very nice audio quality, courtesy of Harman Kardon speakers

Touchpad misses too many taps. Crummy keyboard. Why no numeric keypad? Loud fan

Review Toshiba Satellite U840T-101 Ultrabook

A bit late. Toshiba's ultrabook with touchscreen had been promised for the second quarter of 2013, but a test product only just reached us. An i5-3337U of the Ivy Bridge generation should ensure enough processing power and is supported by 8 GB of RAM....

High-performance ULV package, full performance even on battery, Tidy workmanship, Backlit keyboard, 8 GB RAM, Touchscreen ..., The performance stats of the ultrabook check out. Both CPU and GPU deliver good performance, even when the device is...

with mediocre swipe features, Display is too dark, Viewing angles are too unstable and cause color inversion too quickly, No Gigabit LAN, Heavy input devices, More light! The display could have been brighter, but the narrow viewing angles and the...
