Razer Blade 15 Advanced review: Fast 'n' loud

Razer's latest big-screen 4K laptop has all the chops for on-the-go creativity, but it is pricey...

Stunning large 15.6-inch 4K display ; Sleek design for a big laptop ; Solid build quality ; Powerful performance ; Stereo speakers sound great

Large trackpad sometimes gets in the way ; Pretty much anything gets the fans whirring ; Charging brick is cumbersome ; It's really expensive

With the 4K version of its 15.6-inch laptop, Razer is saying it's not just for gamers. This is also an ideal platform for creators who want lots of power on the go and a brilliant display. There's no denying that it's pricey, though, but it is rather...

Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2019) review

The latest Razer Blade laptop is unsurprisingly stunning – but can it match that style with gamer-friendly substance?

RTX 2070 offers great gaming speed ; Six-core CPU, plenty of memory and a large SSD ; Exterior looks and feels fantastic ; Screen has superb colour quality

CPU throttles, hampering performance ; Too hot and too loud ; Contrast could be better ; More expensive than rivals

It looks fantastic and has good gaming pace, but it’s not slick enough during day-to-day use

Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model Review: High Price, No Compromises

The Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model lives up to its name by performing on par with bigger machines while remaining Razor thin.

Thin and light ; Stunning design ; Great selection of ports ; 300 Hz Display

Uncomfortable keyboard ; Expensive

The Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model is thinner than rivals, but doesn’t lose out on performance, even when up against larger laptops with more advanced CPUs.

Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (Mid-2019, OLED)

Razer's Blade 15 Advanced Model was always envy-inducing, and the OLED-screen version makes it even more so. It's pricey, even for a gaming laptop, but if you can afford it, you'll find it sleek, satisfying, and powerful.

Brilliant 4K OLED display with eye-popping picture quality. Premium build quality and design. Top-end components for 60fps gaming at sub-4K resolutions. Good battery life. Per-key RGB keyboard backlighting.

OLED config is expensive. Can't maintain 60fps at 4K in AAA titles.

Bottom Line: Razer's Blade 15 Advanced Model was always envy-inducing, and the OLED-screen version makes it even more so. It's pricey, even for a gaming laptop, but if you can afford it, you'll find it sleek, satisfying, and powerful.

Razer’s Blade 15 doesn’t look like a gaming laptop, but it behaves like one

It may not look like a gaming laptop, but it certainly is one — for better and worse.

Solid build quality with understated design ; Great high-refresh rate display ; Plenty of power for gaming, productivity, or creative work ; Windows Hello login and lots of useful ports

Shallow keyboard with frustrating layout quirks ; Poor palm rejection on the trackpad ; Abysmal battery life ; Loud, constant fan noise

So while I love the looks of the Blade 15 Advanced, especially in the Mercury white finish, and I adore the power on tap and the buttery-smooth display, it’s not a computer I can really recommend for anything other than gaming.

Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (2019)

The 2019 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model takes last year's slick, winning design and adds peppy, muscled-up Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics. It's our top recommendation in its class.

Portable, spiffy design. High-end build quality. Hits well over 60fps while gaming with its RTX 2070 Max-Q GPU. 144Hz display benefits from high frame rates. Per-key RGB keyboard backlighting. Good battery life.

Garish lid logo. Runs hot while gaming. White "Mercury Edition" costs extra.

Bottom Line: The 2019 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model takes last year's slick, winning design and adds peppy, muscled-up Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics. It's our top recommendation in its class.
